FX4 is now just an offroad package.

$750 Canadian and you get a sticker, full skids an elocker and hankook dynapro tires.

Not a bad price at all.

I currently have a Ford. I like it and it's been a great truck. Little nitpicky things bother me but I had them in my Tundra too.

It all comes down to personal preference, but its s very hard to dispute the fact that the Tacoma is just as expensive as a comparable 1/2 ton.

I like the idea of having a more nimble vehicle with an incredible aftermarket parts supply. Operating costs would be lower then my Raptor, but I'll spend plenty to make it comparable.

All reliability and resale disputes aside. I know plenty of people with over 130,000kms on their F150 Ecoboosts with no issues. But their truck is lucky to fetch $27,000 in 2 years.

I feel resale only matters if you actually decide to keep your truck more than just a 5-6 years.

This is exactly my thought. The only big plus' that the Tacoma still has is:

Maneuverability (I do a lot of city driving)
Reliability (but a brand new ford has a warranty)
    Resale

Why would anyone ever consider a Ford instead of a Toyota..?? I guess they were lucky in the past... I was not... Had 3 Fords.. 1 van...CRAP... 1 Lincoln...VERY EXPENSIVE CRAP...and an F150... piece of shit....

All of this was years ago, so does not reflect the type of crap they manufacture now; however, screw me a couple of times and I will not even look at you again.... Same thing happened with Chevy trucks... had 3.... ALL crap...!!

Went Toyota and never going back.............

I believe I have listed very good reasons.

My Toyota Tundra had more recalls and warranty work then my current Ford.
However my current truck has had more piddly things need fixing. (I.e.: Trim pieces)

I feel like customers being closed minded and their blind loyalty is why Toyota feels like they can rest solely on their name and not have to innovate.

Honda ATV's were like this when I was a kid. If you wanted a 3 wheeler it had to be a big red, then a 300 4x4, etc. But after a generation or two people start to realize that other manufacturers produce reliable vehicles that out perform the old trusted and true in almost every way. If Toyota loses resale value they will slowly lose market share in this category (taco)

I think a lot of companies, like Ford, that change or update models every 3 years have the poor resale due to the constant updates. Reliability too, but people always want newer. Vehicles are almost turning into electronics that way.

Agreed. Of my last 4 vehicles that I've bought new or a few months old (Nissan, Honda and Toyota) its my Tacoma that I've had more recalls and warranty service needed than any of the other before mentioned. Windshield noise, blower motor, rusted rear bumper, seat belt tensioner, now I found out the passenger defrost is not blowing and frame shows rust.

Not sure if its a dud or what but regardless Im not convinced of Toyota's "legendary" reliability.

Our second vehicle is a 2015 F150 Super Crew 4x4 with the XTR package and the 2.7L. Paid $39,600 out the door all taxes and fees with the Costco deal, AMA deal and some other incentives at the time, from Northstar in Calgary. The 2.7L is super powerful and gets awesome mileage for a full size, better than my Taco. But, the trans is already shifting funny, and the drivers door is misaligned causing a lot of noise on the highway. Time will tell how it holds up. The super crew has so much room it's ridiculous.

We paid about the same for a 5.0 F150 with similar options.

Drove the 5.0 and 2.7. The 2.7 was much quicker especially in sport mode. It really woke up the turbo.

I went with the 5.0 because of the lack of history on the 2.7. We also tow and the 5.0 seemed better on the test tow.

Yup. I never said there was anything wrong with the 2.7 L . I just had a new truck ordered for me with the new company I'll be working with. It might have the 2.7 L. I'll find out tomorrow when it's delivered.

If it has the 2.7, pop it into sport mode and have some fun. Makes a night and day difference.

That 2.7 in a taco would go like a raped ape! Lol.

But Canada really needs the DCLB Off-road. That would really be my ideal truck

Yes, that but also with an auto and the option to upgrade to a JBL stereo without having to to go to a limited.
