I gotta say I am not super happy with my '16 Taco after pulling trailer.

Shpark I have said this before and I will say it again. Put him on your ignore list. If we all did he would have no audience and would eventually just go away. As it is as long as we feed the troll he will continue to sit down for supper. You are just repeating what we all have said in one form or another several times. You indeed have the minds of all who suffer him.

I know, I know! But I can't help myself! It's just way too easy! I promise I will stop feeding the troll now! I picture him looking like the guy from that South Park "World of Warcraft" episode every time I read one of his posts!

LOL, that's a nice mixture of stupidity and arrogance. :) Toyota didn't build the truck you want, so they're morons, the truck is crap and anyone with any input into it is a douche.
Thank you for proving my point.

    ****UPDATE*****

Since pulling the Sleds to the dealer and leaving them there, I have Lifted the Truck 3/2 and now running 33x12.50 tires. Granted my Speedometer is about 5-6mph off. (Reading Slower than Actual Speed obviously). I wish I had thought to download the GPS speedo app before this trip back with the sleds, but I didn't.

The truck seems to run and drive on the interstate now pretty close to how it did pulling the trailer. Shifts a LOT. I have been going back and forth with using the ECT Power feature. It doesn't shift quite as much, holds 4th longer and doesn't usually shift to 3rd unless its a steep hill.

So pulling the trailer I was holding speed perfectly on the highway. If cruise was set at 72, it held 71 no problem. Might had been in 3rd, but it was holding it fine. ECT Power was on while pulling trailer. The truck was hitting 3rd on every hill but still held speed. The truck also stayed in 4th for a good bit of the downhills, but occasionally shifted to 5th. 6th was never seen, even putting the stuck in S mode and turning off ECT on a downhill.

I was able to maintain 13.6mpg on the trip over with the trailer. Driving same trip today with no trailer I averaged 13.5 (Yes, lift and tires hurt milage) then on the way back with the trailer I averaged 11.1mpg.

Fuel milage is not really something I am concerned with. I will run it the way it is, but when its time for the Old Forge and/or Colorado trip I will put stock tires back on. At that point the distance traveled will be with the extra 2.5 +/- mpg increase.

I am overall very satisfied with my Tacoma and its overall performance. I just have to not watch the tachometer and just turn the radio up a little more. hahaha However I will probably not buy another Automatic, provided the Manual becomes an option in the Double Cab Long Bed. Or...... unless Toyota would have an Epiphany and make a V8 option, then I would trade on the spot.

Keep dreaming on the V8. Turbo I4 maybe, there's even a slight chance of a diesel or turbo v6, but the v8 in a small truck concept is dead with cafe in play.

If the new Ranger sports the 2.7 L turbo Toyota and GM will have to respond with FI to keep up.

Isn't the fuel economy of a turbo v6 just as bad as a v8 though? I mean the 6.2L V8 in the silverado 1500 is rated at 15/21. Tacoma is 19/24....so combined we are talking about 3 mpg difference and you get so much more power out of the v8...the difference in mpg doesn't seem worth it to me. If toyota offered the 8 speed auto in the lexus's or something that would make a pretty big difference. I honestly think people would buy a tacoma with a bigger engine..v6 or v8 or a turbo or something. I feel like if the tundra wasn't so big people would be buying that to go off road and now think if the tacoma had a more powerful engine, with the size of the tacoma I feel like it would be a win win. I know the colorado with the v8 didn't sell well at all but the older colorado without the v8 didn't sell good either. All I'm saying is I would pay a price premium for the tacoma with something more powerful...I mean it seems like toyota is marketing this truck towards the younger crowd that likes to go offroad with the crawl control, etc, just my thought.

FI V6's do awesome on EPA tests. That's what matters to CAFE. I think Ford will go there first, again, and everyone else will follow.

^But if the Tacoma had a V8, who would ever buy a Tundra??? haha

I agree, they put a V8 in the 4 Runner right? Well they should in the Tacoma, but I am not holding my breath.

People would buy the tundra for work, tacoma for play. I never mentioned putting the 5.7l v8 in the tacoma..if anything the 4.6l v8. Obviously the tacoma would never have the towing capacity as the tundra, but the 4.6l v8 would be nice just for the power.

If I was mike sweers, in the tacoma i would ditch the 4 cyl and put the 3.5 as the entry engine. (3.5 gets better mpg than 4cyl anyways and more power) Give either turbo 3.5/bring back newer 4.0/4.6 v8

In the tundra I would ditch the 4.6, offer 5.7 as entry engine/ offer diesel as premium engine or whatever you call it, but what do i know.

No way with that engine lineup Toyota could even pretend to compete on price anymore with anyone at their production levels.

My ecoboost gets 18 around town and rarely get above 40 mph. When I do drive to the next town I run 65 and get 23 mpg I also am going from 8,000 to 6,5000 in elevation.

That's the thing...i've never been a ford fan but at least they're innovative coming up with new ideas. Ford is going to be coming out with a new 10 speed automatic in the f150 or the new raptor from what I heard while toyota just offered a new 6 speed auto...I don't get that. Chevy currently has an 8 speed auto.

Towed my Travel Trailer today, with load leveling hitch and new P3 brake controller. Must say, this truck tows much nicer than my 13' gen TRD 4wd sport. ECT mode engaged, and trans in s4, the shifting was very smooth and gears seemed evenly spaced. Towed mostly in town, but there was some fwy miles up to 65 mph. Transmission held 4th at 65 mph around 2600 rpm. Granted, no major hills yet, but the my gen 2 seemed to hunt for gears to keep 65mph, could never decide on 4th or 5th. I like the fact that the Gen 3 gives you the option to use ECT mode for these situations.

Loving my Truck more and more each day!truck and trailer.jpg

Nice setup, what is the weight of the camper loaded? Also, what weight distribution hitch do you have?

Thanks! We love it. So comfortable and perfect size for the wife and I plus my daughter to go camping for the weekend, or for me and the boys to go race RC cars!

The Trailer is a Panther 17 XL and has a dry weight of 3980 lbs. http://www.pacificcoachworks.com/products/panther-xtralite-17xl/ Best I can figure, with a full tank of Water, generator, gas and racing gear (RC Cars) about 5000lbs. loaded.

The weight distribution hitch is a Reese trunnion/sway control type. 1,200/12,000lb rated. http://www.reeseprod.com/products/w...sway-control/xihofqeC8HIGprL2iUUAa3TOzVcmd0tu Way overkill I know, but the guy that sold it to me explained that it is better to go overboard on the hitch setup than to come up short. I completely agree! Plus, if I ever need to use it on another larger trailer in the future, I won't need to buy again. The hitch is awesome! My only complaint with the hitch system is that its noisy when maneuvering thru parking lots and campsites. It tends to creak a bit with large amounts of turning.
