Just finished my Extang Hard Tri-Fold 2.0, pretty impressed, went with the additional brackets as well. For the others that installed the same one did yall notice an opening at the front of the bed on each side. It almost looks like there are gaps on each side. Tried to get the best pics I could, this could be completely normal but if it is it looks like it will not be very leak proof at all. Is there some sort of additional front seal as well? Kinda hard to pick out in the shots, but I imagine if it's normal yall probably noticed this already.

Yep, we all have that issue with the Extang and probably most other covers a well. Looks like you came up with a solution though.

Yeah was thinking about some sort of silicone strip to put on the outside with some silicone caulking maybe? Don't know why Extang didn't send something to cover this like they did the foam squares that go on the bar at the front/top of the bed...? I really think this will let a lot of water in right?

Yeah, the foam sealer squares they include to attach to the sides of the bar at right below the rear window. It's the first install step (almost like a supplemental instruction I think).

Called Extang this morning and the lady told me she knew what I was talking about but they don't have a part number on them yet so she recommended that I call back in a week.... I'm thinking, just send me a couple of them! I don't need the part number!

HAHA wow...should just be PT#: FoamSquaresfor2016ToyotaTacomaSB lol...I'm sure it would cost them a total of $0.53 (not including shipping of course). Not like we paid hundreds of dollars for it or anything lol!

Where did you get the foam square from to seal the opening near the cab of the bed?

Well the foam squares were for the bar above the bed. See pic below, they were included in the box as if the cover didn't initially include them.

I just got the Extang early last week and it didn't come with the squares. Drifter16 had the good idea of calling Extang so I did this morning. The woman said she knew what I was talking about but they don't have a part number for them just yet. She told me to call back in a week. So we shall see

it rained a little bit yesterday. Found some water near the cab. The two areas you mention is where I notice the water is entering very little but its there. I contacted Toyota Dallas with those 2 part numbers they said it did not exist. Let us know if there is a part number of extang I would like to order unless toyota would release those part numbers.

Yeah we have been getting tons of rain as well, I had some leaking in the seam closest to the back of the bed, in the instructions it mentioned to maybe play with the end caps to make sure the seal is good and the cap is tight so I will give that a shot. Also I got my Extang Tailgate seal today so will install tomorrow and let yall know how that works. Kinda down for the rest of my day today though, I got snipped today...so sittin on ice packs and poppin my Vicamins! lol Also by the way I got what I think is the part number and the packaging for the square seals. See pics. Also attached a pic of the Tailgate seal.

Haha right, yeah actually it was pretty simple and for the most part painless, scalpel-less and needless, the doc and I were smokin and jokin throughout the whole thing.

Anyways I digress I hope that pt # helps you guys help extang to get you the squares. Also if you speak with them ask them if there were any other seals for the random gaps in the front corner of the bed in the pics I posted earlier. Assuming yall have the same issue.

Ok, finally got the Rugged Cover, no thanks to Fed ex (Fed up) and got it installed this morning. Here is my $.02 on it for what its worth.

Back story, I had a soft rugged cover trifold on my 04 taco, thought very highly of that with the exception of the handles. Got rugged cover to send me a bag of replacements for free after they kept bending, so was happy with that. So, familiar with the brand and seeing the $600 price tag for the hard tri fold at auto accessories, pulled the trigger on it.

First impressions: LED lights are bright and quite functional, why didnt they think of this before or am I just slow? The top of the cover is quite glossy for my tastes. I would prefer something less shiny, but for the price, i can live with it.

Installation, fairly easy with these exceptions:
    1. the dust cover (see photo) is a PITA! one side is attached to the cover while the other is coiled up. This needs to be un coiled and placed between the bed and the cab. my advice: while folded, un latch the front clamps before placing into position, push cover forward to the cab, un coil, then pull the cover back to align.
    2. the clamps: they seem a bit more sturdy than what came with the soft trifold, but agree with prior post that they are still flimsy. I had to remove the lock nuts on the two front clamps (see photo) to un wind the clamp far enough to latch the clamp to the aluminum block. There was not enough thread left to place the lock nuts back on. With the back clamps, I had to unwind them so far that the cylinder that the screw goes into fell out (see photo). I see this as being a huge pain while in a rush in the pouring rain and that thing falls out again. All rugged cover had to do was make the screws about 1/4" to 1/2" longer.
    3. The aluminum blocks that go into the bed rail. Very tight fit and wound up scratching the bed rail trying to get those things to slide into position. And yes, the hex set screw was not in the way. A little bit of grease would have helped.

The gap in the front of the bed, cab side, is stil exposed but the rubber dust cover did a decent job of covering the top at the very least. I have some foam that I will
place in there if water gets in (see photo).

So far, fairly pleased with it. It is raining today and will be driving around. I ll check for any water leaks and report back.

Just trying to figure out what accessory(ies) to get next....

    20151230_100740_resized.jpg 20151230_101109_resized.jpg 20151230_101712_resized.jpg 20151230_102302_resized.jpg 20151230_102320_resized.jpg 20151230_102331_resized.jpg 20151230_103153_resized.jpg

1/12/16 UPDATE: Rugged Cover been on for two weeks now, two car washes and several rain storms later (driving and sitting), still no water in the bed. Water leaked in when I opened the tailgate, but no fault of the cover.
