Tonight, I was driving on paved road that went up a hill. I had to stop on the hill for a sec, when I gave it gas, I was starting to roll slowly backwards and then the truck loss power and the traction control light started flashing. My tires were not spinning. I noticed that when I was completely stop the truck would go forward no problem; but if i was rolling backwards and gave it gas, the traction control would keep flashing and I would have no power.

Has this happened to anyone else or is there a way to explain this?

    Thanks

Oil pump losing pressure since your on a hill???? I believe someone else has had this before but not me. How much of a hill is this? Are we talking about a small incline or one of those crazy CA hills like on Full House?

Watching demos of these trucks crawling up steep grades tells me this shouldn't happen. But since I won't actually have my truck till next week I can't help too much more.

My truck does it coming up out of my parking structure. I usually have to stop on the incline because of people walking in front of the driveway on the sidewalk. If i don't give it enough gas when i'm ready to go the truck rolls back and the HAC kicks in and traction lights flash, and also it makes sounds like you are in crawl control. Kind of annoying actually. My old second gen would only roll back slightly. Anyways, i "think" this is normal, but it takes a bit of getting use to. It happens even on slight inclines.

Your truck is working just fine, mine does the same thing if the conditions are just right. It sounds like your right on the edge of losing traction. Just hold the brake in that situation until you're ready to go.

So looks like the cause has been described pretty well. Now for the explanation; it is preemptively doing stuff to PREVENT it from slipping in the first place.
