Got Tenpines Bluff a few hours ago. I ran into some dialogue with Garvey about him "choosing" me. It was hard to stay focused since I was swaddling my 2 week old. I'm assuming he wanted me to run the Minutemen? I told him I have my own problems and he was fine with that and told me to talk to him if I change my mind. Only other quest I have right now is heading to Diamond City.

 

I just swam and then used RadAway. It's not THAT far away guys lol.

Well I haven't been to the castle get either so idk.

 

I don't want to join the Minutemen yet.

 

I know you can keep doing Minutemen missions at least up to the point of going to the castle without joining them as a faction

 

I haven't joined any faction yet.and I've been on the prydwin or whatever the fuck it's called and to the castle.and to the institute

 

Pretty sure youre part of the "faction" as soon as you bring them back to sanctuary

 

Yeah I just knew it was at least that far because I didn't go further than that with the Minutemen quests.

 

I believe before you officially join a faction there will be a prompt on the screen to warn you that in joining such and such, that so and so will permanently become your enemies

 

Thats only when you choose one at the end. Youre still part of each faction up to that point assuming youve found them

 

I never specifically chose a faction but the Railroad is hostile towards me now however the institute is not.

 

How did you guys build out Sanctuary/Bluff? I'm sure you're already all on Castle,etc. but just want some ideas.

I thought it would limit my progression with other factions but after reading more I can continue with them until there is an actual prompt about choosing a side.

 

There is no benefit in waiting to start a particular faction's quests. You can "join" or do quests for any and all factions at the same time until very close to the end of the main story line, when you are prompted to choose. Until that time, you will remain friendly with all factions. The only way you will become an enemy of a faction before you are prompted to choose is by being hostile toward them, which only hurts you because you won't be able to complete their quests.

 

Well it took forever to walk there underwater in power armor

 

I did a bunch of the Minuteman side quests before carrying on with the main story , it opens up areas for settlements , and you gain XP , weapons and armor

 

Hmmm. Do I want to play fallout now or continue to watch batman the animated series? Tough choice
