Getting new tires. Need some help.

Currently I'm running Cooper S/T Maxx. 265/75/16. They lasted about a good two years. However I noticed alot of chunks missing in the tire and they don't do all that well in wet conditions. I'm between three different sets of tires.
General Grabber red walls
Goodyear MT/R Kevlar
BFG KO2s

Any suggestions would help. Open to other tires too. Take the truck off roading 6-8 times a year usually in the desert and some rocky conditions. Thanks!

I got the 265 70 R 17 KO2'S. I have had them for a short time but am pretty happy so far. There is a thread here just for the KO2's if interested with more experience than my subtle off road in so far but they are smooth, a little heavier, slightly more road noise but I'm still getting around 16-17mpg on a bad day with winter gas and a 2 inch lift. The 265's also fit fine with no lift, I added the lift after.

 

I'd recommend the KO2

I've run about 5 sets of KO's over the years (one set on this truck) and have always loved them (got about 60k miles on each set). I went with the ST Max this time and have some chunks missing at only 5k miles. They are a LITTLE bit better off road, but that's it. I've read good reviews on the KO2's and, they will most likely be the next set for me.

 

I've been looking at Toyo Open Country AT II's. They are fairly inexpensive, probably lighter than KO2's, and they are available in 265/75/R16 in both P, and LT ratings (C and E load ranges). They will handle anything I'll throw at them, but I don't know how they would fair against rocks or other sharp obstacles. Anyway, it may be worth a look!

How are the sidewalls of the KO2s? Any problems with punctures? I hit some pretty sharp rocks when hitting trails in Death Valley.

 

I was searching this too before I bought mine.

"The shoulders are extended to reach lower than before, adding more rubber to the upper-half of the sidewall. Essentially, the tread now extends over the entire shoulder to eliminate one of the main weak points of any off-road tire where the tread meets the sidewall. These shoulders also now feature a swept-back design to help prevent sidewall splitting and to better deflect rocks. In total, BFG says the sidewall of the KO2 is 20 percent tougher than before."

how are the BFG KO2s on the road? are they noisy? I'm looking at either:
BFG KO2s vs Hancook Dynapro ATM 265/75/16 stock suspension.
Do mostly HWY driving, but still want an aggressive looking tire but dont want to totally thrash my MPG.

any leans either way? other tires i should look at?

I had no lean and stock suspension initially. The noise was only slightly louder but I like it more.

 

I got the 2 inch lift and still no issues.

 

I have the Hankooks. I had the original bfg ko AT's in the past and did not like them at all. I like the Hankooks. Like you, I wanted an aggressive look but don't off road much at all. The Hankooks are about 10 lbs lighter per tire iirc. I went with 255 75 17 and they look great and perform very well. I gained mpg over my Bridgestone revo 2's in 265 70 17

 

I can't say a whole lot because I just installed my first set of KO2's today, but they do ride well, I don't notice any more road noise than my Bridgestone revo 2's had. Great tire IMO

Hey I have the 18 inch factory rims I want to get The ko2 tyres but want to know what kind of lift kit you have and how much lift on the front and rear thanks

 

Who? I have factory 17's with Bilstein 6112's set to the 2nd to tallest setting, rear Bilstein 5160's, a 3 leaf progressive AAL and LR UCA's and gained 2 inches overall.

 

Cool I have the 18 inch chrome Rims and it's a trd sport like yours how is the ride quality with those blistein what's the difference with the factory trd sport shocks?and by the way when I buy the ko2 do I need to buy the "LT" tyres
