@dakotasyota get an ARB, I've held a few side by side and there is so much less resistance on the ARB versus the others.

@twalchlii1 when ever I get mine installed lol

I have the hand of a mechanic( I am one, both backyard and professionally) but there is nothing "puss" like about obscenities and tears after taking a frayed cable to the phalanges

In that angle of pull id be more worried about the line rubbing on the framing. And that would be for both synthetic and wire.

Your looks like the older style but i could definitely be wrong since i have no idea when you got your winch or anything. And dont care all that much either :)

Completely agree. Ill take synthetic just to avoid those stupid frayed cable burrs. My hands get enough abuse at work.

Dude you cable was spent when we tried to pull Sean's truck out , I kept hand over handing it a foot away from my pants/shirt so it wouldn't take me with it. I don't think any gloves could have saved you from it.

So my KM2's are on there last legs. I was looking at getting a new set of KO2's for my new tires. Other than MUD tire rack gives them a better rating for everything else including snow. Any of you guys running those?

Theres five guys running the KO2's at work right now and love them. Of course they are all on heavy diesel trucks, and not more than 6 months old. They look to be a good all around tire. I myself would run something more aggressive, but I'm in the mountains a lot.

I am running them and was running circles around Subarus with studded snow tires on mount hood last weekend. I ran the KO's on a Bronco & an Explorer back in the day. I love them and never had issues during hunting season in the muck.

I'm also running KO2s. Love them so far. Just under 1,000 miles on them. No issues!

    LOUSY THIEVES!!!!!

Sometime between 5:00 PM on 12/28/15 and 4:00 PM on 12/29/15, some bastard stole two of my three Vision X HID 8500's off the front of my truck. Just moved into a new house 3 weeks ago, I guess that is my "welcome to the neighborhood" gift.

Almost 5 years at my old house with no issues. Move 5 minutes away to slightly more rural unincorporated King County, and I get robbed. I guess I'll have to take measures to make sure they next ones don't get stolen.

    ARRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!

I haven't seen any other design than the standard one that @bobsuruncle posted. However, I agree with you. Quoting myself:

I don't think I've seen anything but aluminum hawse.

Not sure what he was doing, because a synthetic line has equal or greater break strength vs. an equal diameter steel line. What I really find interesting is that time and again, everyone buys an 8k lbs winch for our trucks. While great for 1st gens, that size of winch is the bare minimum (if even that) once you start considering the extra weight our trucks have once armor, people, and gear are added.
Synthetic should be very reliable. I was with Bill the day after he broke his pre-production Amsteel Blue around 2010 or so, and he simply spliced it back together and I'm guessing it's still on the winch if he hasn't turned it into an extension line.

I'm on the KO2 as well, along with Peter from GitOut. He's crowing like mad about how good they are. I haven't been off the pavement, but I can say they have been gripping amazingly well on all these rainy days. I went over Bald Peak via 219 this last weekend and the slush wasn't noticeable either. If there was snow under the tires, I was taking it slow, but never had an indication that I was about to do any slipping.

East Renton Highlands/Plateau area. Just east of Liberty High School and just north of Renton Fish & Game.

I'm guessing they won't be fenced, but installed on some guy's truck. They did lose the Deutsch connector on the light side harness.

Both black, one Euro beam and one pencil beam.

Warn (least they used to) makes one for use with their steel lines.

I think it comes down to how you use your truck. If its going to get high center or stuck in deep mud....then id be looking at a 12k winch. But since I use my truck more for light rock crawling and more "overlanding" Im happy with the 8k rating. Most of the times I've used it is just when you just cant get quite enough traction and need a tiny tug. If I do need more, I can use snatch blocks to "create" added pulling power.

But thats just my opinion on it. I bought mine knowing what Id use it for and its worked great. But yes if i were doing harder stuff or knowing Id need to winch a lot...id buy a 12k rated winch.

    crap bolted and welded together....
I got a 10k, it'll be adequate for now. Usually having pulling power twice what your weight is, is ideal. But trying to cram a bigger winch in would be a PITA most cases.
