I actually shopped for the Tundra myself. Nice truck and I can swing it, but it's just too big for me. I do a lot of driving on the highway and also need to get through tight spaces off-road on my farm. The Tacoma was a much better choice for me - and I saved 10-15k!

Yeah they feel like a tank. They are a little out of my reach and the mpg is horrible or else I'd love to have one.

Funny stuff. Sounds like more of the hidden question involves whether it's worth having his wife find out he's swapped trucks. As he bring home the 400k, she's running the checkbook (and wearing the pants). I like my '15 OR but haven't seen or driven a Limited... Hey sometimes it's worth the wife wearing the relationship pants if she's a hottie and worth it... but gotta take them back over and "man up" if you want a new truck.

I thought that was a proctologist for things up the ass.

    Endocrinologist is for hormones.

Some people might need both as there are a lot of hormones and foreign objects in this thread.

I did a similar calculation, and arrived at the same conclusion.

    He said he paid $200k to support his parents over the past 10 years, so $20k / year: $200K - $20K = $180K/year = $15K / month.

Now he could have a smaller mortgage, but higher food costs…etc. I’m guessing with 3 kids the (food/gas/entertainments/clothes) is way more than $2k/month (mine is and I just have one child). Gotta budget for the yearly family vacations, too.

Point is… one can spend $400k worth of income such that he’s not in Range Rover territory, as many have suggested. He very well might be more broke than a single guy, living alone, and making $80k/year.

So much speculation about the $400,000.It's almost better than the OJ Simpson trial, and the mysterious fitting of the glove. Please do entertain me with the plan.

As long as you have a reasonable debt load at good rates, you can live very well making $80K/year or even less. But any credit card debt (over $5000) at 24% is not very good because you have paid for that Starbucks coffee 3-4 times by the time you have paid it off. But for most people, the cycle repeats and the debt load doubles.

[QUO="jimsmithrn, post: 11452414, member: 168411"]So, I put it in to 4Hi and hold the traction button on the ceiling for about five seconds. The dash indicator light flips to "TRAC OFF" and both rear wheels are locked. I tested it two weeks ago in a dry field and this past weekend in the mud. Worked both times. I looked in the owners manual and didn't see it, but it works on mine.

FWIW, it also works in 2wd. Great for donuts.[/QUOTE]

All your doing is turning off the traction control which lets you spin both tires in low traction situation.

We are now alternating posts between locking differentials and analyzing the OP's financial assets. Should we throw in some quantum physics?

Before you go to the doctor next time remember, he may be able to remove your spleen, but he can't buy a truck without the help of the internet. ;)

When my wife was in med school I'd never met so many BRILLIANT people with absolutely zero common sense about how the world actually functions. It's a by product of spending your ENTIRE life studying for a specific thing, unfortunately the demands of the career often times prevent it from EVER happening which is why over half of all private medical practices operate in the red. It's a career you do out of passion...no other reason to put up with the demands of it because as the OP pointed out the income level is VERY high but so are the expenses (both financially and otherwise). The really wealthy physicians I've met have made most of their money through patented surgical devices and tools or through owning surgical or imaging centers, not from their practice.
