I am almost certain that it is 4.30 in spite of the door sticker and again if like to reiterate that the Toyota axle codes are never set in stone and it wouldn't be the first time they've changed how they classify them.

    http://www.off-road.com/trucks-4x4/tech/toyota-differential-identification-18588.html

If it'll put your mind at ease I'll try to find time to do a roll out late today.

120 miles yesterday at 60 mph on the nose. Your math is right on.

Found this digging around on Google.

"Tacoma trucks will be fitted with one of two rear drum-braked axles depending on configuration. The BD20 axle has an 8-inch ring gear and we’re told this axle is basically carryover from the previous truck, but it does have some changes including a new gearset. There’s also a brand-new rear axle with 8.75-inch ring gear and high-strength axletubes. The BD22A is the “normal” 8.75-inch axle and the BD22AN 8.75-inch axle is fitted with an electric rear locker. The BD22AN will be included in TRD Off-Road package-equipped trucks. These new 8.75-inch axles contribute to a gross axle weight rating improvement of 24 percent. It’s also worth noting that the electronic rear diff locker now has an internally-mounted drive motor as opposed to the external motor found on the previous Tacoma. Up front, the centersection and axleshafts are carryover from the previous-gen truck. All of the hubs are stronger and of a new design due to new wheel slippage sensors." - fourwheeler.com

Putting this 3.91 rumor to bed in another thread, cross posting the relevant part here:

Why did you have to turn the wheel twice to get the 4.3 drive shaft rotations? I'm gonna guess because only 1 wheel was turning?

That's right. If the diff was locked both wheels would be rotating and it'd be only one turn.

Car and driver did the same 0-60 test with the beast. Since motor trend didn't test one either, the access cab trd sport manual can 0-60 around 6-6.2 seconds, double cab in 6.4 seconds. Faster than a new 5.7l tundra.
Automatic 0-60 times for the auto in motor trend truck of year contest were:
    6.8s
    (4x2 access v6)
    7.2s
    (4x4 dcsb v6)

My 09 2.7 5 speed is a beast, it's got an LCE performance clutch which is really grabby, but it holds ALL the power really well ;)

I'm also currently in the middle of manual swapping a 2001 Lexus IS300! I get the shakes when my left leg doesn't have anything to do.

**Edit, by "in the middle" I mean I've got an R154 and some of the parts necessary for the swap, but tons of parts to gather yet!

Where are you getting these figures from? The article you linked says 7.3 seconds for a double cab 6mt, not 6.4 seconds.

The manual tranny weighs approx. 140lbs and the 6 speed auto is approx 185lbs, I don't see how the TRD 4X4 manual can have a higher Curb Weifgt. Am I missing something?

That article is an entertaining read i nothing else. All these reviews make the canyon and Colorado sound like SUV's not trucks. Maybe I am just a Toyota fanboy but I am glad Toyota has given me a low geared truck, on a proven chassis set up, with no extra frills. My manual feels like a solid truck, if I wanted an SUV I'd buy a SUV. //end rant//

I'm assuming the MT trend article and not the CD one that was linked ...

Yeah the motor trend truck of the year had the lightest auto Tacoma at 6.8 seconds, just applying the same time difference car and driver found with there testing. 6.8-0.8 and 7.2-0.8

So you're just making assumptions and then coming up with numbers based on completely different tests and not any actual testing has been shown to give 0-60 of 6.0-6.2?

So it would seem. Unfortunately, that's not how you math, not in this case anyway.

they did the exact same test and the manual was almost a second faster while weighing 160 pounds more for some reason, it's safe to assume... everyone knows the manual puts more power and torque to the ground and can out launch the auto

I would have said 6 seconds flat if I wasn't accounting for the weight of a 4x4; the 6.8 second time was a 4x2 v6. I agree, none of this is hard data, but it's worth noting
