I believe now you'll have to get finger printed and get a firearm's purchaser's card. Just go to your favorite gun shop and ask them what you need. Its ridiculous. But you actually screwed yourself by not keeping them. Now there is an assload of bull shit you have to go through. Plus, you're limited to 10 rounds only.

never bought anything other than ammo in MD and VA, so this may be a stupid question, but can you not buy in VA with a MD license?

I still have my firearms card, I know I will need to go get fingerprinted. That is no big deal. I was looking at a Glock 19 Gen 3 and a .44 revolver for me and the house and the wife a .38 revolver.

I believe the new laws still apply. They basically fill out and register everything for the state you live in, not the state you buy in. I buy in West Virginia from time to time and they transfer all the background process and everything to MD because its my residency

S&W revolvers yeah they cost a bit more but like fine wine they improve with age. My mod 19 was manufactured in '68, I used it for number of years shooting IDPA, it's had +30K of 38spec +P run through it.

I recently went through the process to get my license to purchase and the Utah CC ( yea I know it's no good in MD. Got it because I can). What everyone is saying about the fingerprints and transfers sounds right. I haven't used the any of this yet, but I am looking to start purchasing soon. Wife wants a revolver, hell.. I want one too. Need something small for the wife because it would just be a range gun and I really want to get my hands on an AR-10 or AR-15.

I went with 18" for now with Aero you can swap barrels on the fly which is pretty cool. I want a UBR but I don't want to pay 265 for a stock lol

Not sure why you want a revolver for Home Defense but whatever floats your goat. I love my 9mm Smith and Wesson M&P 9. With proper techniques it's incredibly accurate, holds 17+1 and was my first gun. Kimbers are amazing pieces too. I haven't gotten into the revolver scene but I do like the J-Frame by S&W it's very low profile. Can never go wrong with a 44mag for home defense but youd be finding brain matter for as long as you own the house. I would HIGHLY suggest a rifle for home defense, an AR. They are quick, light, and the recoil can be handled by a child. They make a 9mm one if you are worried about OP I've never shot one but I can't imagine the recoil being anything so the wife and kids can defend them selves if you aren't home. The Most IMPORTANT thing Is TRAINING. (My phone auto capitalized those haha) glocks get a bad rep but I actually like them but it depends on how it feels in your hands. Take the wifey with you to the shop and test hold a few different pistols and see which is comfortable. I'd generally stay away from Tarus right now till they clear up the issues they've been having.

Tacoma is 2.4 time heavier. Tacoma also has 4 piston calipers vs the single piston fiero caliper.

would put money on the 6000 Tacoma stopping quicker than the 2500 lb fiero

Not true. You are limited to 10 rounds when buying mags in state. Go up to PA or out to DE and you can purchase them and legally possess and own them in MD just can not SELL OR TRANSFER THEM. Transfer is a tricky one I believe the intent is transferring ownership not handing it to your wife but I could see some cop trying to make that an issue.

Yes and no. You can still buy a non regulated gun out of state in person. Typically long guns. Anything regulated you must have transferred to an FFL and go through the MD process. If you buy a non regulated gun out of MD online it must be sent to a FFL who will do a nix check (simple background check) I well advise in a few days but from my understanding you do not need all the other BS when going through that process.
