Absolutely its doable. Its not easy though. Before you even try to crack the encryption you will need to figure out how to interface with it. There's no off the shelf products that will do this for you :notsure:

    - Not naysaying just making sure you understand you are trying to break into the Leavenworth of ECU's.

What are you talking about? Who cares; your point of "do your research, you can't crack Toyota ECU's" was not researched. Now either use your infinite wisdom to help or shut it.

Toyota does not track ECU changes in the 06-15 Tacoma's btw.

Interface is easy, I've seen it done. You can purchase interface connection modules from a variety of places. However, the next challenge is figuring out what each terminal in the interface does. Most ECU manufactures have consistency in the interface terminal layout.

Seeing as I have offended a local troll, I will take this discussion to another thread.

Thanks to those who actually contributed and not just mouthed off like a child.

Well, anything can be done for the right amount of money. Point is, nobody has done it because it wasn't worth the trouble, time, or money to hack into Toyota ECU program

you got some screwed up logic thinking hacking a Toyota ECU is comparable to curing cancer, sending people to the moon, and crap like that. I'm pretty sure if a company has those kind of budgets to get more horsepower out of a Tacoma, they'd just sell a whole new powertrain, or tell you to buy something else

Really, the engine is so weak, nobody probably trusts making a tune in fear it will blow up.

I'm guessing you still haven't heeded your initial advice and did your own research...

The tuning was, sure. You can't make a universal tune; it has to be unique to the vehicle. The ECU decryption was legit though.

I think the biggest issue was the lack of demand (ROI) for the Tacoma. Bully Dog didn't invest much into it and were eventually bought out IIRC.

Ha, most of what bully dog sells is handheld programmers with generic off the shelf tunes
