I just bought a 2013 Tacoma. I also own a 2002 F250. Both trucks of which I am doing expensive work on. I also don't make billions of dollars a year so I need to be careful with my funds.

I want to eventually run a 3'' suspension lift, I just don't have the money to do it for a while. Probably won't be able to do it for about 3 years. But I REALLY want a lift, I just don't think the truck looks right without it.

Could I do something like a level kit 3'' front and 1'' rear short term?
I don't off-road at all. This is purely a pavement truck. If it goes off the road it's to go down a rock driveway or through a field.

I know there are many people dead set against spacer lifts, but few people actually express exactly why they are. What exactly will I break/wear out?

I would not install this kit myself. It will be done by like a 4wheelparts and be aligned right after.

If its a pavement pounder why not just put a spacer lift on it and leave it. Seems pointless to upgrade it to a better lift if its not going to be used.

Space the bump stops down and there won't be any risk of breaking anything. I ran spacers for several years along with thousands of other people and never had any issues. I never spaced my bump stops either. You'll be fine.

If you are gonna take it to 4wheelparts, a spacer kit might be something they can do without screwing it up.

I bought my 2011 in October of 2010 and I've wanted a lift on it the entire time I've owned it but I waited until just recently to do it as I read untold amounts of posts here as well as technical specifications on manufacturers websites to make sure that I purchased the right components to do it right the first time.

I understand your enthusiasm as the wait drove me nuts but I strongly encourage you to wait as well so you end up with the correct setup the first time. I'm so glad I waited to do it right even though I annoyed my wife with my constant "research."

Illinois people are so optimistic. Clinton County here.

I've ran spacer lifts on trucks in the past and I'm going to purchase another one for my current truck. My good friend has the revtek spacer lift on his FJ and he drives that thing like he stole it. His FJ also has over a 100,000 miles. The only issues he had was a torn cv boot and this was due to him driving in ice.

Most of the people who say don't go with a spacer lift has had no real world experience with them.

I did that, but I did it myself, spent stupid money going cheap, and ended up taking everything apart again and doing it right. What a fucking nightmare. Don't do it.

Save your money for a real lift.

The difference in money for quality vs. quick is nominal. Save $500-$600 and do it right; regardless of pavement truck or not. Just my $.02

In your guy's experience if I wanted to do a full level and 3'' lift, how much is that likely going to set my back with install?
I want new UCA's and a Diff drop as well as a proper alignment afterwords. You think I'm realistically looking at about $2K?

Take a look at @HeadStrong Off-Road site for lift packages. With UCA, diff drop and alignment/install, I would say you can accomplish under $2k

    enough to go over stuff
Install yourself or find some local members to help. Skip UCAs and just do 2.75 inches of lift. Try old man emu or toytec kits. just order assembled coilovers and your good to go.
