07 Exhaust Question

Hello All,
Traded in my 01 Tundra for a 07 Double Cab 4X4 SR5 Long Bed. Love the truck, but really miss the Tundra V8 exhaust sound on acceleration. New Tacoma has plenty of power - any suggestions on an exhaust upgrade. I am not looking for a loud exhaust system, but I feel the new Tacoma sounds tinny and gutless on acceleration.

im gonna say go with a flowmaster 40( as i have done)...very nice rumbly sound, and its not REAL loud in the cab, especially when your on the interstate, you barely hear it!! but if thats a little too loud for ya, maybe the trd or a magnaflow will work, as they arent as loud as the flowmaster! hope this helps!!

Do NOT! get the TRD Exhaust like I did because it is Not a True Performance Exhaust/Muffler. It is a Sport Muffler built/made for sound and Yes I saw it for myself after the Fact. I changed it out to a MagnaFlow Stainless Straight Through Muffer so in other words I paid for an Expensive TRD Exhaust Tip and Pipes! My suggestion would be just change out your Muffler to either a MagnaFlow or FlowMaster, same Performance but FlowMaster Resonates more sound that could be heard from inside the Cab. Either way far better than the TRD Fakehaust!

If anyone lives in the SoCal area particularly in the Riverside, San Bernandino and/or Orange County area(s). I have the Mad Hookup for Exhaust/Header install. As for Exhaust, They Specialize with MagnaFlow and FlowMaster, eh! As you guys may well know if you want Headers install unlike what Companies might say that for 2005-07 Model years, they are a Total Bolt-on application, it needs to be Welded prior to the Cat. Majority, including Big National Companies (No Names Mention) AKA Muffler Shops wanted to charge me between $600-$900 just for the Install. I Freaked and I almost returned my JBA Headers until I ran into this Muffler Shop by accident in the City I live in. He charged me $240 and put Flanges on the Headers in Case I wanted or needed to take them off for any reason. E-mail me anytime, eh!

Id like to take my truck to your muffler shop. My Magnaflow looks like it might be a different model than yours. Not sure if i have the best one possible.Also im not real happy with the tip that they put on.I'm happy with the perfomance , just not the looks of the tip. I'm also thinking about headers. thanx.

 

question bro...... i put the jba silver ceramic headers on my 06 tacoma double cab long bed.... do you hear like a sputtering from your headers... or is that normal cause of the "firecone" CHAD

 

Can you be specific about the sound, isnt it kinda like a ticking? low rpms only? high rpm's? etc...

This makes me very concerned. I have yet to hear of this Sputtering type noise so every time I start up my Rig, I listen for this so called Sputtering sound/noise and when I drive around town or highway, I turn off my stereo, open up my windows and try to listen for this noise/sound. Just for my information, do you also have a Cat back Exhaust and/or an Aftermarket Intake system of any kind? What Types of other Mod’s did you do to your Rig? As Spyder327 asked, “Can you be specific about the sound?” Did you have your Headers welded on or had flanges put on before the Cats? I myself had Flanges put on instead of welding them on. Wow, get back to us with the specific sound description, Otay. Lataz!

 

i have an intake / throttle body spacer and the headers.... thats it... its only at high rpm's that i hear it like a ticking sound.... ya thats the best way i can describe it... i dont have a cat back..... yet becuse im waiting on a "off road" y pipe to extinguish the 2 rear cats.... and i was wondering if anyone knows the amount of "back pressure" required to get the most bang for the buck seen that banks made a set up for the new tacomas.... and one more thing how do i get a pic of my truck so it stays with my screen name in posts?

hey GeeDee67.. i am new to the forum so first id like to say it's good to see other tacoma owner's!!! I have an '06 trd offroad doublecab and i just bought jba silver ceramics for it. I live in HB so that would be great if i could get that shops number. every place i see says it is 4-5 hours @ $70/ hour for install! ouch! what did you pay for yours? I got them from aj usa performance for $608 (no shipping charge). let me know, thanks bro... p.s. how's that chip work, good or bad?

I have the TRD intake and EXHAUST. The sound is good. But I lost some MPG. The EXHAUST for the TRD is nothing more than a different MUFFLER on the regular exhaust. save $$$$ by a muffler. The TRD intake is nice . It is fully inclosed so I do not get any mudd or stuff in it when I go mudding, like you may with a open model

Thanks for the info. I was just considering buying a TRD exhaust for my 2007 long bed. I have had a MagnaFlow in the past and was really pleased with it.
