The LED bulb I put in my moto was very hot even on the front end when I would touch the front part of the headlight. I never really compared it to the halogen stock bulb for heat output though. The LED bulb had a fan on the back side of it for cooling the LED.

My LED mountain biking head lamp gets very hot though (it doesn't have a fan) so much so that I have to not grab the front of it with bare hands after it's been on for more then 15-20 minutes.

    "...don't generate enough heat..."

It's why manufactures such as Truck Lite are now incorporating heating elements in the lenses of the LED headlight assemblies.

Just got to go back to having headlight wipers:D

But that it explains it. Me personally I still love my HID's.

I'd love some HIDs but I don't think I want to tackle a retrofit. I'd be scared shitless to ruin the housings halfway through.

Meh... retrofits are over-rated. Paint the housing flat black(black headlight mod) and get a good set of HID's with shields and put them in the factory housing.

Are you talking about HID bulbs with integral lenses/projectors? If so, do you have a link to a product? I don't want to put an HID bulb into the stock housing without some way of properly directing the light so I don't blind people.

So this is an age old debate and I one I do not want to re-hash. Here is the kit I use:

    http://www.ddmtuning.com/Products/Ultra-HID-Kit

It does have shields on it and creates a cut off line. Is it as sharp as a retro fit line, no. I painted my housing flat black to absorb more of the glare from the chrome housing and have properly re-aimed my headlights. They do not blind people nor do they give off excess glare like so many people claim. Also note that dirty headlights increase the glare tremendously so keeping them crystal clear is key which is why I suggest the clear bra so the plastic does not fade over time. The fade in the headlight plastic increases the glare.

Note that retrofits are NOT DOT approved in a factory housing. But then again neither is adding an HID to the factory housing.

If i had the extra funds to toss away on a retrofit kit I would purchase a pre-assembled set of headlights with a warranty. But I could much better spend $600+ on other things I could use for my truck and my HID's have served me just fine.

Plus he's kind of a teenage ricer with huge plastic wiper blades, a soup can tail pipe, ground effects with a spoiler and Justin Bieber blaring on his radio.

I'm surprised his buggy isn't still lit with oil lanterns, not like it makes a difference, the horses lead the way most of the time.

So I had a list of nuts and bolts for the front drive shaft, transmission that I misplaced and for the new exhaust. I called mountain states and they wanted to charge me 205.00 for maybe 15-20 nuts and bolts. F#*!ing crazy. I guess I'm running to Jims tomorrow and trying to find that stuff.

Oh I didn't think of them, thanks. There are only 4 bolts that I need for the actuator and three nuts for the crossover tube from Jims but the rest I could get from them.

Don't worry about it. There is one in commerce city that I can hit up tomorrow. Plus I'll need them as soon as I get home tomorrow so I can get this truck ready before Dylan comes over. No time to run over to your place to pick them up from you. Thanks anyways.

What do you want to know? I put amber Lamin-X film on mine and like it so far. It was only around $15 and was very easy to install if you remove the fog lights first.
