What you need to know about lifting a 2016 Tacoma - Presented by Toytec Lifts

This is exactly the way I look at it. My last few trucks were all 4wd and I rarely used it. Most of the times I used it actually was just to not have to work it in 2wd. Most of those trucks were also lifted even though I never went anywhere a stock 4wd couldn't make it. I'll lift this one as well not because I need to but I like how it looks and I hate feeling like I'm scraping my floorboards across the pavement when I drive. There's a lot of things I hate on vehicles I see every day but I respect em all, just because someone took the time to be creative and set their vehicle out from the rest. Most importantly though because I don't have to drive them haha. But if you want a 4" lift on a 2wd, why not do the 3.5" spindle lift and throw on some bilstein 5100's set to .85? Just a suggestion good luck on the build!

 

Yea, for you 2wd crowd, spindles are the way to go.

For us 4 wheel guys, I'm really thinking a combo of a coil over with a spacer. (I honestly can't believe I suggested this)

 

Same here, never needed 4wd. I prefer 2wd, no issues with my lift.

 

Yes, I am def going with a spindle kit, I don't want to have a rough ride which I think I would get with any other type of lift for a 2WD.

 

Yea, spindle lift is actually a true "lift" (for the front anyway), where you can actually clear a larger tire at full bump

 

I'm shopping around for lifts and all that jazz. I'm planning doing a 3inch with 1inch body to comfortably clear a 285/70r17

If so, do you have pictures? I'm not wanting to sacrifice ride quality. Also planning on getting the 5160 shocks on the rear.

I just would like to give me an idea how a tacoma would show it with a level or lift kit installed. I just became a 3er gen tacoma owner, so I'll set it up with billstein front shocks, but I did´nt know what height, but I´m still confused in the tire´s size

 

Iam going with Fox 2.5 with resi"s,coilover in the front, add a leaf, control arms-Total Chaos. Only looking for a 2"lift, i want a suspension that i can pound on, with out sacrificeing ride quality. I think the new 2016 TRD OFFRD is just a smidge short on height. Factory suspension is just that,factory suspension

 

I'm rocking Fox 2.5 CO with TC uppers with BFG TA KO2 265/70/17 and the kit clears fine with zero rubbing. I'm Really thinking about jumping up to 285s. Just need to make sure I want to deal with the MPG drop and dealing with any potential rubbing they may bring.

 

265's clear without a lift. Go for the 285s and make them work!

 

Did you actually get lift upfront? Looks stock, unless you lifted the rear? Looks good with the 265's though

 

It's a poor angle on the photo. But it sits slightly higher in the front. I can get another 1" on the front I think. I didn't against to get full potential of the shocks just yet. The rear is stock but I have a add a leaf waiting to be installed once figure out what im going to do with the tires.

I am getting pretty close to pulling the trigger on a lift/suspension set up. Need some advice. I am likely buying the following:

King 2.5 Remote Resi Coilover (25001-119)
Total Chaos Uniball UCA (96504)
King 2.5 Remote Resi Rear Shocks (25001-121)
Icon Add a Leaf (51100) Or Deaver Add a Leaf
Method NV 17 x 8.5
BFG KO2 285/70/17

Am I missing anything?

Should this be level? Or close? Don't want rake and really don't want to be nose up either.

Do I also need spacers in the front to clear 285/70/17s?

Do I need a spacer to correct the Taco Lean?

If I go with Deaver add a leaf (or either really) do I need the shim? Or do I need anything else to correct the geometry?

I'm about to go with the same rim and size and a toyo 285/70/17 SL load(48 pounds) Toyo product number 352150. Let me know what you find out. Tread depot has the tires for 182 and I am still looking for the best deal out Method rims. Tire Rack has then for $200ea and I feel like I can find them cheaper.

 

Honestly, I'm not sure what the wheel and tires normally run. My brother works for America's Tire and he's helping me out with cost +5%. As far as rubbing, etc, I'll make it work one way or another. If I don't get an answer on here, I'll figure it out myself and be sure to post results. My question in the previous post has more to do with the suspension components themselves. Not sure If I'll get the lift I need/want, not sure if I am missing anything, etc.

 

Do you think your rubbing is more of an issue with tire height than width? I am planning to go with 17x8.5 Method NV's with Toyo 285/70/17 which is shorter by a 1/2 inch and wider by a half inch.
