I started trying to order on the same day you did. GST turned down the reallocation order so they tried a "special order" at the end of November (25th maybe?). The salesman sent me some tentative details with no VIN and with the wrong color and option on the truck in early December. He went back in to get the color and options corrected and the email from GST to him with my temp VIN and ETA was dated yesterday. Good luck with yours!

According to the report given at the TVO meeting, only 1% of total production is going to be DC OR long beds. 1% of about 175000 = 1,750!!! There simply will not be very many model 7568 TRD ORDCLB's made, period. 1750 / 12 = 146 per month or about 12 per region per month and that is about what I've seen. Your best bet is a high volume dealership who gets a higher and more frequent allocation. If you find one in allocation, you better jump on it.

that is/was 1% of the Greater LA Region's allocation. Other regions could get more or less.

Whenever I searched on Cars.com, the only places I was finding any DCLB OR in inventory were the Pacific NW and middle to upper east coast. Never saw any in SET or GST territory at all. Granted, I was only looking for them in BBP, but I suspect the same would be true for just about any color.

I realize the 1% I quoted is for one specific sales region. I also understand that that % may be slightly higher or lower in any given region, however it should be noted, it will not deviate much from an average of 1%. The TRD sport LB was always a limited production model. The TRD OR LB is a lower production model than the Sport. I believe Toyota underestimated the demand for the LB OR option (7568). That being said, don't expect more than about 2000 of these trucks to be built, it will not happen in the 2016 model year. In the Ohio Valley Region - (Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio and Michigan, not exactly what I would call flatland and urban with year-round nice weather) - very few ORLB are available at allocation.

Or another point of view is............

We live in a greedy society. Most dealers include the tech package and more on most trucks to up their margins.

I believe you get a lot for the money in the Tech package, the markup is really not that much. The invoice is $2074! Using financial reasoning, if the truck is worth approximately 70-75 % in 3 years and you base that off the MSRP of $2330. That's $1631-1747. Subtracted from invoice of $2074 means you pay $326 - 443 for tech package over a three year period. You will get that use out of the extras, IMO. I get it- it feels like your paying way too much, but in the end your really not.

If you want to get right to the point a long bed or TRD or OR or auto trans, power windows, AC, V6, extra cab, double cab, 4x4, nav, xm radio, in fact any optional extras, are a waste of money. Most of those items are not absolutely needed, there just nice to have. I owned a 1990: 22re 4 cylinder, 5 speed with no AC, crank windows, manual locks and I loved that truck, there was nothing to break or go wrong.

Good purchase justification math, but you miss my point entirely. (Sadly enough when the truck is 10-15 yrs old, you won't get squat for that stuff. Pick a car that old out of KBB or Edmunds, answer all the questions for 'options' and see what the line item allowance is. $0-$50 in many cases)

The point is the margin. By ordering a lot vehicle 'loaded', I just raised the price, and my profit, both at the dealer level and certainly at the corporate level.

You may be correct with a 10-15 year old vehicle on values. For the most part vehicles are a depreciating object.
Are you one who mods the vehicle you purchase? That is add different rims, upgrade the stereo, do a lift, ect..
Using your logic then, all of that is a waste of money 10-15 years down the road.

In the end, people should purchase the vehicle they want equipped the way they want it.
Have you ever done upgrades to your house (kitchen, added a pool, new rugs). That may help sell the house , but when you do it is doubtgful you will get much return if you wait 10-15 years after the upgrade.
