Improvements from 98 to 04

I'm ready to put my ol 98 out to pasture and want to get an 03 or 04. Anyone know what improvements (or otherwise) Toyota has made to the Tacos in those six years?

 

I know the front of the 01-04's is much differnt and better looking imo from the older tacoma's.

 

the only thing besides the clock that im not real happy about with my 04...is the location of the parking brake cable on the rear diff. other than that........its solid as hell.

 

well hell yeah! its why i went back to first gen in the first place....besides getting 4x4. im not too crazy about push button or turn dial 4x4 systems.

When I was looking for my 98, I test drove a 97, both with V6's. I distinctly remember the 98 felt a lot stronger than the 97 -- and the 98 had a shell! Maybe a revised cam profile?
