Shop around but do it based on MSRP! Not per month or week payment. Compare apples to apples. Any Toyota dealer is going to have access to financing for you. At 96 months on a 40K loan at 4% you are talking about ~8K in interest!!!

Figure out what you can afford over a shorter loan, like 5 years (that's my limit), and do your own math. Then shoot for that MSRP. Don't let the dealer work on a payment price. That's a sales trick to sell you more truck then you can afford at a high price disguised behind a lower payment. In year 7 you will regret that loan when your truck is way out of warranty and you are still paying $600/month for it.

Mine was $40k OTD (including GST) for a double cab sport with upgrade package (sunroof, BSM, etc) with 6 speed MT.

@kevin_ryle423 did you figure out what 315 bimonthly works out to over 96 months...

    $60480...

Oh and biweekly would have an extra couple of payments a year over that...

So that dealer tried to sell you a Tacoma with a few gimmick options for over 60K!

Totally agree…find what you want, include in your "build price" all taxes, all levies, everything possible, and work down from there. Country Hills Toyota was able to take $2800 off my msrp which I was happy with, but now they are playing the "we arnt making any money from this sale" haha…bull. This forum seems to be showing multiple buyers getting more then $2000 off msrp…a good starting point.
Just to add, my personal rule with Toyota is to never go more then 48 months on financing…still debating 36 on this purchase.

Just FYI a 44K Tacoma at 3.9% over 5 years would cost you $404 biweekly and have a borrowing cost of about 5K.

Just work on MSRP. I've seen many dealers try to do it the other way round which is basically scamming the foolish IMHO. Imagine paying 65K for a truck that's worth 2/3's of that....

I work off MSRP, which I translate into bi-weekly payments. While I agree that its good to know what you are paying in total for a vehicle, knowing the comfortable bi-weekly payment for YOU is important also. 96 months is crazy, in your 8th year you are still paying well over $600/month. You will not like that feeling.

Also 4.89% (72 months is as high as toyota canada website will allow) is high, and I can guarantee you it only goes up as the length of your term increases. If you type in 0 or 0.9 it'll lower your payment substantially, this is what I am waiting for. Toyota will offer 0.9% next year, always have red tag days. entering 0% saves you ~$100/month on the trd sport dclb I want over 72 months.

Red tag days are on now. No change in the 2016 Tacoma interest rate...

    http://www.toyota.ca/toyota/en/promotions/national-promotions

I doubt it will drop to 0.9% over 72 months. Usually the Tacoma sits at 1.9% IIRC. It's anyones guess when it will get there though. OP could see that rate on next Monday, or a year from now, no one knows.
