TRD Sport rear differential alternate identification.

Ok so I'm about to embark on the 30k (self) service and i have a few questions about my rear differential. It should be an lsd but i don't have the red lsd sticker. Is there another way to tell before i go add lsd additive into the pumpkin.... and probably go chunking? Also i have seen some stuff on the second gens all having a lsd some mech some auto except for the TRD Off Road models. Any help or clarification is appreciated.

You don't have a mechanical LSD. No need for the lsd additive.

 

All 09+ do not require LSD additive.

Only 05-08 TRD Sports with original diff. require it.

From then on an "electronic limited slip differential" took the place of all mechanical LSD's.

An Electronic LSD is essentially an upgrade to the braking system that monitors and acts upon an open differential to eliminate slippage on a wheel with less traction.

Basically your breaks function as the limited slip hummmmm hence no need for additive as your diff is an open diff.

I haven't been able to confirm the SR5s. I don't remember it being an option.

 

It was an option, I use to have an '06 SR5 that had an LSD.

 

I've asked in there a couple times for someone to edit the OP and clarify this issue much better and larger. Like I'm talking to a wall. I know there's a couple small notes about the LSD, but no one reads it and it isn't as clear as it should be.
