I know we are all just guessing here.. It just seems logical for the ECU to switch to full power mode if the ECT button is set to power mode. The answer is in the ECU.. hopefully it can be cracked one day.

ultimately it's like what vw did......except they left it to the consumer to control. On a serious note, shift points and throttle response does change, as for the exact details, no idea.

No, I don't think its even close to what VW did. It just changes some ECU biases to make towing/hauling easier, generally at the expense of MPG's. But I don't think emissions are out of regs.

Emissions? Pretty sure the reference was about the sport mode that VW and many other manufacturers have anymore. Has nothing to do with the TDI emissions stuff. Duh

It probably changes the settings in the trans controller, not the ECU.

Not sure who you think you are, but you continue to fail at convincing me you know anything about ECU's. I have no interest in further discussing anything technical with you since you seem inept. Post what you wish on the threads, but your PM's are not of interest to me either. If you don't like being ignored, that's an issue you need to resolve on your own or with a professional.

I hope the mods on this forum take notice.

    Good luck to you.

You just love going to school don't you. Well hop on the short bus mister cause school is in session.

Lesson one: The ECU controls the transmission.
Lesson two: Cars have ONE ECU
Lesson three: The ECT button is NOT the controller

For homework, google your shit before responding.

    School dismissed.

No shit the button is not a controller, who ever said it was. The Toyota published statement clearly says the ECT button controls the TRANSMISSION CONTROLLER settings.

you didn't read the link, then. Or are you saying Toyota is wrong and there is no transmission controller on the 2016?

The ECU controls the trans. The ECU controls everything. There is nothing else. Try google before replying further. Not that it will help you much at this point

A transmission controller operating independently of the ECU, imagine the possibilities.

Damn, there are some dumbasses on this forum. Vehicles can either have a PCM (trans and engine controls) or ECM and separate TCM.

No modern manufacturer (that I know of) uses TCM's anymore.
