Ok, very possible but not all of them are like that.

What about this guy that put in the following criteria:

    1. 2005 TRD Off Road w/ E Locker (5teuu42nx5z031941)
    2. Stock tires (265 70 16)
    3. 8000 (miles at failure)
    4. normal driving on pavement

Added to the list of 2nd gen problems

LMAO.....You got that right.... Funny, this reminds me of a FB video of a guy with a Jeep Rubicon showing off by crawling up a concrete step. The dumbass obviously had no clue - he ended up on his side. Whoopsie!

That's the point....You're talking about ONE guy. One in how many sold? There will always be issues - it's how many of them are legitimate factory failures.

Nice, I will definitely be pointing them out to them at my 5000 Miles service appointment. I wish I would have known, I just had a unrelated appointment on 12/28.

We also seem to talk a lot about ONE engine failure for the third generation too....

Anyone can look at the sticky and decide for themselves how many diffs failed either due to owner neglect or weak units from the factory. Just pointing out the data point.

The tech didn't even care to look at another truck. He knew it wasn't right.
Have you tried pulling down on it with the window rolled down?

This is true. I bought trucks in 2002 (Tacoma) and in 2005 (duramax). I would have never thought in a million years to get on the computer to trouble shoot an issue. I did not even know what a forum was. In 2016 I check forums daily (vehicle, archery, hunting). In 2005 I could only asked the experience of my friends that had similar trucks. Not thousands of users from across the globe.

    No.
Just shows you the only thing holding it tight is the window when it's rolled up or it's shape when rolled down. No friction on the seam at all.
    Mine just starts pulling off.

Thats my point, if there were any engine failures or any other failures they would be stickies or listed (just like rear diff) but there are none from that period.
So even if you argue that TRD OR failure was there, that makes one problem that shows up after 8000 miles ..... and not on your way back from dealership..
So compare that to multiple engine failures (atleast two pictures of engine disassembled)

3gen is a low quality chinese crap compare to 2gen quality. Sorry but that is the truth.

And yet sticky is there but none for other problems, nor other problems that were complained during release.

I haven't been on the board very long but my first perception of you is that you are a miserable and hateful person who has to continue to bash the third generation Tacomas for some reason that, I'm betting, is tied to some kind of deep personal issue that requires mental counseling that you refuse to recognize because you think you're better and smarter than everyone in the world.

But hey, maybe I'm totally wrong and you're a sweet guy and just having a bad month.

    *RESPECT*

Spoken like a true Suckend Gen owner. If you dislike the 3rd gen (Sorry, low quality Chinese crap), why are you in this sub-forum - to stir the pot? Perhaps you guys are bored over in your forum due to nothing going wrong? LOL. The mods are old (I mean, how much can you tweak over a 10 year span... right?). Let us idiots discuss our engine failures in peace. I was just about to go post a new thread - My engine blew way harder than your engine. That's all I'm reading in this forum, day in and day out. Lots and lots of blowing. There are roads all over America, covered in oil, due to 3rd Gen engine failures. COVERED IN OIL!!!!!!! The travesty, the outrage, the horror. I bet people are afraid to start their 3rd gens because of all of these problems. I was one of them, took the chance, started it and the fucker blew. I stood there looking at my truck, a $37k POS, going why didn't I buy the older model?!?! Why did I have to be different? Did this all happen because of push button start? I just don't know anymore. Now I'm stuck in the 3rd gen world, me and thousands of others with scored cylinder walls, vibrating hoods, and noises of a random Coke bottle being blown into. We all sit, waiting on a new engine, while the current one belches oil into the atmosphere, and causes accidents everywhere us 3rd gen owners go. We are assholes, that much is certain.

Now that I think of it, don't you have a vibration to chase down or something? :)

Traded my 2012 sport for the 16
I bought my 2012 DCSB TRD sport brand new. The only issue I've had with either of the trucks was/is a humming noise. the 2012 was fixed by replacing the windshield seal and the humming with my 16, which is rare has yet to be fixed. Heres a pic of my 12 just because i kinda miss her.....

Good thing too, MB isn't exactly a quality or reliable car these days...not they don't make some cool & advanced products.

If I were looking for bullet proof I'd pick any new Tacoma (just about any TM product) over every MB product produced.

It's funny how Daimler has managed to maintain its reputation of producing quality products even while they consistently manage to score poorly in reliability.

All generations of Toyota trucks have their problems, I've owned the two previous even before they started calling them Tacomas.

88 and previous trucks were notorious for the beds rusting out, bad single stage paint that came off in sheets and reds that turned orange at the blink of an eye.

89 -94 V6 head gasket failures and blown CV joints because we didn't know how to properly lift IFS.

95-04 First gen issues such as frame rust, bad MPG and still a weak engine.

Yet these are the years EVERYONE decries Toyota defined its reputation in reliability and consumer satisfaction. I liked them then, I still like them now, warts and all.

2nd gen owners seem to be more vocal in their complaints whether it be their own trucks or the new trucks. Not sure why, but that's their choice.
