ITS ALMOST HERE!!

After a very long wait I am finally ready to ship my first batch of 5 this weekend!
I made a list of everyone who showed interest and ranked them based on forum posts, PM's, time of contact, level of interest, etc. From that list the following 5 people will receive Better Bed Lights:

This is of course assuming you guys are still interested after my long manufacturing process. If not, let me know and I will inform the subsequent people on the list. I will contact the above gentlemen personally via PM to work out the details.

Now for those who showed interest but are not covered in the first batch, don't worry, I didn't forget about you. This first run taught me a lot, but most importantly that I simply can not handle fully machining these by hand in my "free" time and fulfilling orders. As a results I am requesting quotes from local machine shops to have them made. I will keep the forum updated with upcoming availability.

If anyone is really itching for one of these please pm me and I will see what I can do to accommodate.

It appears the design will need very little modification to fit the first gens, so I am hoping to get a prototype made in the coming months to test that. I will post my results.

Would you build it without the Go-Pro mount/adjustments?

I would set it and forget about it.

 

Although the mounts look similar to a Go-Pro mount they are custom designed and manufactured for this application, they will not work with your Go-Pro. That being said if we have enough people interested in a solid non adjustable mount I will consider offering that as an option. Designing and manufacturing a new "solid" mounting arm is a time consuming and expensive process and likely not saving much money on cost, but if you are very interested in getting that option PM me and we can discuss the details. Alternatively we could also talk about just sending the base plate with no mounting arm hardware. I look forward to hearing from you.

can you give any details as to what you are thinking with the "more options"....I am trying to decide if I want to order now with the raw aluminum matte finish or wait to see what else is coming.

It is a SPST switch body that has 2 lamps, a green one at the top for when it is on and an amber one on the bottom that you can wire to turn on with your headlights (just like the other dash lights). The details about the light are all on that page and there is also wiring instructions for the switch on the page.

This thread shows how you will have to shave the switch hole a little bit to get it to fit. It looks a lot scarier than it actually is. I put my switch in the lower set of switch blanks (which is easier to access) and was able to do all the work just by removing the change drawer. I didn't have to make any additional modifications other than shaving the hole the switch goes in.

I updated the original post with the two options I am currently offering. I will be working on trying to find an anodizing vendor that will black anodize the parts at a reasonable price for small quantities. Unfortunately I don't have an ETA of when I will officially be offering that option.
