Looking for either a 110v or 12v portable air compressor

    Got in a situation this past weekend where I wanted to have a small air compressor to air up a tire.

    I'd like to find a good air compressor, n ot the cheap plastic kind you buy at WalMart but rather a truly small air compressor that I could fill up normal street tires with.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

    I don't think I need one with a tank, I'd trade off the tank for size.

    If I could figure out how to mount it under the hood of my Taco, this would be great but that might be asking too much.

    I don't want to say "I don't care what it costs" but I am almost at that stage.

    I figure with my 110v plug in the back of my truck I could use a 110v but if anyone sees a problem with this, please advise.

    This would be an air compressor that I would leave in the truck and hope I never need it.

    What does 33 percent duty cycle mean?

    Any particular model you'd suggest on the Viair? Same question on the ARB?

    Do you have this on your Taco?

    Any problems with heat from the engine?

    I figure if I install this pump, it will most likely sit bolted on under the hood until I sell the truck. Sort of like the jack, I really don't hope I'll need to use it but am glad to have it there.

    Your thoughts?

    I'm not an off roader - but this past weekend, I really needed a compressor handy and didn't have one. Not going to happen again.

    I currently don't have one. It is what my hours of research have led me to. A couple guys that I off-road with have them hard mounted under the hood and don't have problems with them over heating.

    Thanks for the tool bag tip. I'd not thought of buying the carrier separate from the pump but that opens up a few other possibilities.

    FWIW, the one I linked comes with a bag for the accessories and extra parts - and it also fit in the storage behind the driver's side back seat.
