I understand where you are coming from on the money/component ratio front. What is lovely (read: what was lovely and is becoming less true as Apple becomes bigger and more profit/market-takeover driven) is that a MacBookPro is built from the ground up both hardware and software to work as a single unit. This is in strict opposition to the Microsoft/Windows technique of building an OS with bits and pieces of code where you essentially have a room full of code monkeys all competing to have their line of code in the OS/application they are writing for. Windows is a bits and pieces gig that is intended to run on shitty dell/gateway(no longer exists)/insert-cheap-compmaker-here computers and for that very reason (especially when it comes to laptops) many problems arise and you waste so much time dealing with bullshit. Building your own comp and running linux alpha is going to net you better results, yet somehow Windows crashes just as often if not more often.. It used to be the standard for business applications out of practicality but it is so predictably unreliable that it's mind-numbing and unnecessary. Apple computers are fantastic for the fact that you can open the box and immediately start using it as a computer, as opposed to buying the hardware and software and then installing all the programs and packets that are needed to have a windows based operation.

On another note, Apple used to have the greatest customer service imaginable. No joke. Honestly going into an Apple store was the greatest experience because the people at the dopely-named "genius bar" actually knew what the fuck they were doing, and if they couldn't sort out your problem they would go "awwww well.. technically you need to buy a new charger" or "welllll your warranty has expired" or "hmm well you need to reload the disk image and start again" which they would promptly follow up with: "but I'll just give you a new charger/fuck it we'll treat it like it's still under warranty/I'll just waste 20min of my day doing it for you right now so that if it doesn't solve the problem immediately you will be saved a trip back here and we can get on to fixing whatever the underlying problem is". Not to mention how good they are at pushing the envelope on user experience and functionality. They push the industry forward with some of their applications such as FCP and Logic Pro, even garageband is spectacular for how easy it makes things.

In closing, I have witnessed Apple deteriorate in its ability to maintain the original aspects of its existence that made being a consumer of their products so desirable. Look at what a mess they made out of Itunes every time they revamped it in the last 8 or so years.. christ almighty! Still, they make the best laptops.. their mac pro has an incredible screen as well as sound system.. and despite their inane attempts to market to the idiotic-know-nothing-allin1-consumer market they still manage to churn out a combination of software and computers that, un-like their competition, actually work as a single unit. I think you said it best with the line: "Glad you like your Mac" Really, that's what it is all about. If one likes it and it works for their intents and purposes, so much the better for them! If the value of the individual components is important to you and if you are comfortable with writing code or at the very list inputting command lines.. go the way that suites you best. We all haves our needs and preferences, but I think a large part of this thread is about slamming Apple as being all around shit just like people want to slam any umbrella-anything as all around shit. There has never been a president of this country that wasn't blamed for the global economic situation or for every shortcoming of the government at that stage including congress which they have almost no control... blahblahblah. The first page of this thread reads like a clueless extremist's oxy-moronic blog-rant about how Obama is a communist, socialist, fascist, kenyan, hawaiian, nazi, ghetto, highclass snob, liberal, pig, weasel, stout, cow, japanese, anime, hentai, BBW, mustached hamburglar..

It's actually entertaining how unreasonable some of these posts are:rolleyes:

edit: where I said "mac pro" in this post I was actually referring to the "imac" ..although the mac pro is pretty dope for what it is but that is another story entirely!

Except Apple uses the same hardware as Windows... Even their phones run a chip designed by a third party and a Samsung screen. To say that they build their current products to dance perfectly with their hardware and software might of been true back in the PowerPC era, but that time is long and gone. A perfect example is SSD on Mac. Even after the fixes there are still complaints of how OS X handles TRIM and SSD's in general, often killing them well before their time.

Anyways, I agree that Apple used to be the cats meow of support. That's why I tried them out for a few years. I experienced great service with the first iMac problems, but by the second one the people at the store seemed to care less and less. When the MB went on the second one they accused me of being to rough on my computers and of tampering with the computer, when I had done neither. I was done with spending that kind of money for a product I wasn't seeing any benefits from.

The Mac Pro is a very nice machine. I'd be just as happy with a high end series Samsung Ultrabook though and with the money I save I could buy whatever headphones I want to have even better sounds.

Yes, this page has gone sideways, but that is mostly because people are taking comments against apple/windows/obama/hentai with there personal feelings on each. Kind of like every other thread on here now.

BTW I am writing this off an eMachines N450 atom netbook that I bought from a clearance pile at a Walmart 6 years ago for $100. Is it fast? Nope. With a $70 120 GB SSD and some other tinkering though it's running Win 7 64 bit pro no problem and I still use it when I want something to haul around. Would a small MacBook be nicer and faster? Sure. Anything X86-64 though, if taken care of, can last a while in this era though. Even bargain basement stuff. Like i said, buy what you want. I won't be wasting any more of my money on Apple products. Actually, that's a lie. My wife is totally locked into their system, so I will continue to buy new phones for her every time iOS updates mess up her old phone.

Too bad that as a company becomes a corporation and gains more market share they become less suitable for the consumers' needs. Oh well, free market and all:rolleyes:

People may bash apple, and yes apple may sell less options than others for a higher price point. But I have never had a problem with warranties or in general with an apple product.

What I liked best about apple, maybe not this current apple form, is the products they brought to market. The innovation was there. Every other company has been just replicating what apple has brought to market.

But the beats by dre is ridiculous.

Would love it if his grave stone said exactly that. Cant imagine how much revolutionary technology was utterly destroyed by the endless Apple litigation. The most exclusive phone club and best kept secret is BB10 OS. Nothing comes close for productivety and security. Carried by Presidents, Chancellors and Fortune 500 CEO's.

I really like my new S5 Active. The Z3 before that was great but it met an early demise that would of killed any phone.

Well with this being said, I always have been and always will be loyal to Apple. By far the superior phone. Good job wasting your money though

Weird. My S5 Active, which has the same guts as the S5, does great with lollipop. So does my cheap RCA tablet that cost $50 CAD ($40 USD). It sounds like Verizon did something funny to the software. That's one drawback with Android. The phone companies are allowed to control and modify updates so they can fudge things up pretty easily. Apple controls all of their updates so the situation is a lot more stable.

Then again, this is a good argument why all phones should just be unlocked now and have nothing to do with the carriers. Fuck them. Literally 90% of phone problems are caused by their bloatware or handling of locking their phones.

A "superior phone" really? come on fan boy even fan boys can say that some features in other phones are better than the current ones they use. If apple wasn't a closed OS they might and I stress "might" win some of the guys from android that has been enjoying the openness of the android OS. I'm no fan of just one thing but to say 1 product in this world today is "far superior" is delusional.

Oh and the $700 they want for one is highway robbery.

$700? Try over $1K here for some of the nicer models. For that price you could have a waterproof 4K Sony Z5... with expandable memory... yeah apple needs to work on things a bit harder IMHO. The OS is sweet but the phone is balls compared to what else you can buy for the same price tag.

I mean FaceTime, iCloud, iMessage. Sharing made easy between all iDevices. Sounds pretty sweet to me IMO. That's obviously just me though.

I have iPhone for work. I never use FaceTime, Googledrive works the same as iCloud, OneDrive is also compatable with both devices and my wife actually uses that instead on her iPhone, and iMessage is glitchy as fuck plus everyone disables the read notification which makes it just standard mms in a lot of ways.

Not knocking your phone, but the features you mentioned are on Android too and you don't need to be a genius to use them.
