Yeah, somebody mentioned padding it to deaden the noise, but I don't think it'll be bad in the long run, just something to get used to. Glad your install went well.

Hello all. I am interested in this system for my new truck and I just installed a Pace Edwards retractable cover this week. I will be having a shop do the install as I am not as mechanically/electrically inclined as you guys. My questions are will there be any visible holes that have to be drilled? I think I read a few pages back about a few guys drilling through the OEM back up camera area. Last question is will this product still allow the auto touch system to work? Right now I can just walk up and grab the door handle with my key in my pocket and the door unlocks. I can also just tap the door handle to lock the doors as well. Just want to make sure these functions still operate the same with this product installed. Thanks for any feedback. Pic of new tonneau and please let me know your thoughts.image.jpgimage.jpg image.jpg

Cool man I really like their products. Unfortunately the electric version cost three times as much.

Yeah I could imagine. I didn't even want to spend what I did but even the folding solid covers run about that much and I wanted retractable and something I could take off easily.

With the pop&lock, there is no drilling. Secures in the tailgate with existing hardware. Only hole I made was a very small cut in the rubber gasket big enough for the wire to pass into the cabin. All the keyless entry/locks to all the doors work just as before. No changes. I have it wired so the tailgate unlocks with the passenger doors on the second remote click.

I just got my Pop&Lock kit yesterday. I'm going to install it tomorrow. Looks pretty straight forward. Where did you access the cab on the passenger side for the wiring?

Removed the plastic step plate (goes where you step into the vehicle) and then the kick plate in front of it. Both are just a couple of clips and come off easily. The kick plate has one screw removable by hand.

To get the wire into the cab, I cut a small hole in the rubber gasket that is located on the bottom of the truck, about 2/3 way back under front door side (easy to see if looking under the truck). Then ran the wire with the other existing wires under the step plate.

Can take some pics when I get back home if this doesn't make sense.

I saw a couple of places to get the wires into the cab and I went ahead and completed the tailgate portion of the install. That was easy, so tomorrow I just have to run the wire into the cab and I'm done. Thanks for the help.

Thank you Rrentrop and Doss for the pictures of the tailgate, that all went well.

After reading 10 pages I still don't know which wires to splice into. I am wired to the driver side kick plate.

2016 off road, tech package, driver side kick plate

these are the 3 connectors coming from the driver door

I suspect it is in bundle #2 but I don't know. Any help is appreciated.

Or is it this bundle not near a connector?

I came in this way also, it makes more sense in my opinion.

Somebody posted this earlier. Hope it can help. I went through the passenger side, so I can't comment but it looks like these pictures should explain it well.

After 3 grueling days filled with doubt and frustrations, I managed to finished the install but not without drama...

This is the first time I've ever fiddled with any"electrical components" from any of my vehicles so I was really nervous to mess with this initially.

Day 1: I decided, this is it, I can do this!
Step 1: placed the pop n lock kit on top of the tailgate and rered all previous post. I Removed the tailgate cover and in 10 mins I was able to install the actuator (Easy part).
Step 2: I grabbed a big piece of card board, layed it in the ground under the truck, and crawled under the truck. Looking and planning how to run the wires underneath (Damn! it's full of dried mud down here)
Step 3: hmm, maybe I should test to see if the connection with the "green and red wires" works first before I zip tie anything ( so glad I did).
Step 4: how the heck do I use quick splice, I asked my self... That's how amateur I was. Let's YouTube it... Ahh, easy enough.
Step 5: disaster! Connected green to green and red to blue but nothing. Actuator didn't even made a noise. Damn, I'm screwed! I should've never messed with electrical in my car. Maybe it's bad connection, or bad actuator. Maybe I tapped the wrong wires. Can't be, I followed all the instructions....
Step 6: abort! Time to rethink this, I have to work tomorrow so I need to put everything back together so that I can drive the truck. This is when I decided to remove the actuator and all the wirings and figured it's probably a bad kit that I got. I should return this. I managed to place everything back to original container and planned to return pop n lock kit.

Day 2: still very upset that it didn't work. I told myself, maybe it's not for me, maybe it's not meant to be, maybe I should take it in to a car alarm installation store. A day full of doubts and disappointment.
I was about to return kit then I thought, hmm maybe there's a way for me to check if actuator and wires works. I grabbed a 9 volt battery and decided to check it this way. And there it is, actuator with all its wirings are working just fine!
I saw an earlier post about posi-tap and decided to order one from Amazon. I couldn't wait any longer so I overnight it so I can work on it the next day. This time, I was feeling good about everything again. I was determined. I'm not quitting!!!
Day 3: Fedex guy rang the bell. I immediately open package and inspected posi-tap. This is it! This should work much better than the cheap quick splice that the pop n lock kit came with.

Step 7: after redoing steps 1-3 again, I'm back to the final step. I connected red to blue wire, and green to green wires using posi-tap and crossed my fingers.

    It works!!!!!

The quick splice that comes with the pop&lock is crap. Similar thing happened to me. I ended up just twisting the wires together and placing a good old fashioned electrical cap on and voila, works like a charm. Anyone thinking about installing this should just skip the quick splice all together and save themselves the headache.

Glad you got it working bro, way to not give up!
