Do like I did and put a couple of self tapping srews through the rails to the truck bed. One of my clamps broke almost lost it on the road.

I know its a 1 st gen and maybe different but removed My center console and ran it through one of the rubber plugs under it, use some silicone to seal it up. Zip ties like said above to keep it up and out of the way. If there is no rubber plugs you can drill your own hole but make sure there is clear space on both sides before you drill.

I have to do this too. I'd really like my bed space back. When I went to Mexico I had 2 spares back there. It doesn't leave much room for sleeping.
