Hi, Im new to the Tacoma forum, just bought a 2014 Tacoma double cab 4x4, and so far Im impressed...mileage could be a little better, but I'm sure I'll get used to it as I go...any help on squeezing out a little higher mpg would be appreciated.

Stay under 2k RPM if you want mileage gains.

That's pretty much the extent of it. There is no magic, Tacoma's are not fuel efficient.

The truck is a 4.0 liter v6 with the 5 speed auto...I do an inordinate amount of highway driving(have worn out 2 trucks in the last 5 years) so I needed a highway vehicle capable of going offroad occasionly.

Honestly? You could spend a shitload of money on gas-saving modifications - but I honestly don't think you'll get much in return.

I think the best things you can do is go light on the gas pedal.....going the speed limit and keeping the rpm's down. How boring is that? LOL

Avoid this site, before long you'll be installing lift kits, winch bumpers, big tires, roof racks, etc......

Just kidding, welcome to the site, best things to do for MPG's(imho) is take care of your truck, like proper maintenance, use synthetic fluids, and don't drive like an :censored:. I use my truck for work and get a lot of highway miles, avg right around 20mpg. A little better in summer, a little worse in the winter.

Yes, just watch the hard acceleration and the like. Wringing much more mileage out of a Taco isn't easy. Some folks claim a topper can help, but...

Scan gauge or ultra gauge will help. If I base my throttle use on the what MPG the my gauge shows I usually get another 2 MPG average out of my truck.
