This thread is a Joke...look at the "solution" guy has 4 posts and solved a "howling problem" Toyota engineers are trying to sort out....Really?
I am not confused, but you certainly are way over your head here, Don't need any more "recruits" I have not posted the email address to join the group outside the forum working on this. Mostly because of the assholes and dip shits......Ring a bell?

unfortunately this didn't fix the problem. it did seem to reduce it some as the op stated.
I think Toyota will have to push a truck back into the wind tunnel to figure this one out.
hopefully there will be a simple fix we can do without taking it in for repair.

My truck has a rubber seal between the bed and the cab from the factory. Do they not all come like this?

They are all like that. I have never seen that on a truck before I bought my Tacoma.

As I said in another post. I also get the noise when the truck is not moving, but cars are driving by in the opposite lane.
For this reason I do not think it is mechanical.
Again the picture is just locating the noise not the fix. :mudding:

I have an 4 cyl. 4x4 AC SR model without the fender trim/extentions. My truck is quiet all the time. No unusual noises anywhere. Anyone out there with an SR that have heard these noises?

So after reading all about this crazy howl thing I started paying attention to the sounds in my cab as I drive. Around 35-45mph, sure enough, there it is. It's extremely faint but it's there all the same. Maybe I'm lucky, though, because it's hardly noticeable, and I've found the solution is pretty simple: turn the radio on. Or roll down the window. Or turn on the AC. Or forget about it because all cars have noises.

Toyota fixed the driveline vibration, added an incredible infotainment system and other creature comforts like mirror defrost and wireless charging, made off roading a breeze for amateurs with crawl control, and increased horsepower and fuel efficiency, but we got a faint wind howl at a specific speed that can be easily ignored or drowned out by the radio or a conversation with a passenger.

    I'll take that trade off.

I mean, maybe mine's better than others, but I'm not remotely concerned about it. I actually chuckled when I heard it, given the big deal it seems to be. Rain guards, a roof rack, aftermarket exhaust, giant knobby offroad tires, and 10 years of wear and tear on every weather seal in that cab, and we'll all forget that the howl even exists because we'll be hollering just to be heard by people in the back seat, I promise.

Interestingly enough, I just recently drove my neighbors Chevy Tahoe, and it has the same exact tone around the same speed but much louder. Then I was reminded of every Jeep I've ever ridden in. Made me even more grateful.

I'm trying to load it. The video is upside-down but who gives a chit. Listen to the noise. This is me driving at 65mph with a 20-40mph cross wind.

Well that didn't work worth a shit. Trying to do this from my phone. I think that the file is to big. I'll make a YouTube account and post it there and post the link. But I worked today and the packer/vikings game is on and it has serious playoff implications for my Seahawks. I'll get it done tomorrow or Tuesday. GO HAWKS!

I don't think that it's the same as mine. Mine only happens at highway speeds with a pretty good cross wind. You can turn your stereo up all you want to. If you have this no Justin Bieber is going to cover it up. First time I heard it I thought somebody was honking at me.

I had a good laugh at "no Justin Bieber is going to cover it up." I definitely haven't encountered anything at highway speeds or in cross winds, so I really must be lucky.

I can hear my Bieber just fine.
