Very true. I know a few who got gas co. jobs.
I used to take route 6 sometimes instead of 17, and the water trucks beat the snot out of 6.

Agree and friendly folks that would let you hunt their land. Most of the farms I hunted on as a kid are now housing developments. Different county with different folks now.

Another drab and dreary day in not-so-sunny Southern Maryland. Took this pic while on my run this afternoon. Hope y'all had a great start to the new year.

Yeah, thought the day would have more sunshine but turned cloudy mid morning and never changed. Looks like some sunny, but cold days coming up.

I still take either one and switch them up, one of my great Uncles helped build 6. The old timers talked about how it was a big deal for the farmers in Coudy (Coundersport) to get their potatoes and other crops to the city such as Scranton when 6 went in. Like most that grew up in the Twin Tiers I lived both sides of the border. The NY side was in Chemung just off 17. And close enough to Pa. to walk there. Shot a lot of deer on both sides but in the heyday of the 70's & 80's NY was better hunting IMO.

Shot this guy just behind the race track in Chemung on a bench below a saddle between two hills. Shot a lot of deer on that bench over the years. Now someone built a house on the spot.

This barn is right up the road from the track and we would take our deer there to process them. Scott has a walk in stainless steel fridge inside. This was a typical opening day evening. I was a lot younger back then LOL.

Yep Buffalo County Wi. is right across the border from me now, many of the largest deer ever taken have been from there. People fly in from all around the country to hunt it. But the big ones are all on private land with a hefty fee to hunt. Pretty much same around here. Every once in awhile will see a pig of a deer on public land but most of them are on private land. Leasing for hunting rights is big business around here.

Morning, All ! Not 14 here this morning but right around freezing with some colder mornings coming this week. Can't complain, not a flake of that four letter word yet this winter. Haven't even put the snow tires on my 05 MINI Cooper yet. Keep watching the 10 day forecast for a sign of the four letter word and nothing.

Have a good day, everyone !

    Ditto that!

We have several butcher shops around us that make the best scrapple. I can just go get a slab whenever I hanker for some. I like maple syrup or apple butter with sassafras. My dad likes ketchup - yuck. :)
Lots of room on the porch. Just bring something to fill up the cooler. We already have some wannabes hanging out there.
    Is it called "grandkids"?

Christmas decorations are down and put away. It's Yuengling time. Beautiful day here in VB for a change, sun, blue sky, and 53 degrees. The yard may dry out in a month or so if it doesn't rain again.

    Same as everybody else...
Same...Christmas decs packed up and away for another year. It was a little chilly in Southern Maryland but no rain and bright sunshine and blue skies. Actually got a 6 mile run/walk in today and it wasn't miserable.

    Everything TW members recommend
Busted out the snowblower to fire it up and make sure it works for the winter season. Frick'n pull cord wouldn't budge. I attached the electric cord to pushbutton start. Starter kept trying, but wouldn't move. Kept trying until it coughed up a bunch of debris.

I had to literally take apart the damn thing to pull out bit's and pieces of a what I believe is (was) a favorite t-shirt of mine. Eff'n critters built a nest inside the pull cord starter cage and beyond.

Pulled out and blew out stuff with compressor air. Put it back together. Works like a charm now.

    c'mon snow... c'mon!!! I'm ready.

Jealous! Although ketchup?! Seeing how it is your dad I'm not going to touch that one with a 10 foot pole LOL. Yeah when I feel like I can afford the carbs will treat myself to some maple syrup on it. Most of the time I just make it crispy and put a couple of eggs over easy on top.

Best way to start the morning camping in the woods along with some coffee IMO. And cooked in bacon grease of course. Probably not been a lot of scrapple cooked on the North Shore of Lake Superior except for me ;)

Pa. Dutch are thrifty, when you get done butchering the hog you use what is left over and add cornmeal and seasonings to it.

The Garage? So are they for or against it? We ain't talking livermush here now... It is the good stuff!
