Don't slam your tailgate

Don't ever try and close your tailgate with any force. Had my hands full today and with one arm free to close the gate. Popped it up there quickly and the gate came out of the release mechanism and landed on the bumper dogearing the gate on the passenger side and denting chipping on the bed just under the plastic lip. You can even see on the outside of the bed where my free hand pushed it closed (or tried). That was quite the WTF moment, not like I am Mr Olympia or anything.

Guess if they didn't make the sheetmetal from old diet coke cans it wouldn't have done a thing. I assure you my old 02 F150 never popped the tailgate out trying to one arm close it.

put a hose clamp around the side that popped off the hinge. It will keep this from happening again and will also serve as a bit of theft deterrent.

That really sucks.

To be fair, it takes no force to close, kinda just clicks in when you push it up, but that the same time that absolutely shouldn't happen.
