Double Cab, Long Bed Lifted

Icon suspension set to about 3" of lift with 265/70/17 Dynapros. Regretting going with the 265s and I'm going to move up to 285s soon.

 

I know this is an old thread and a bit off topic, but how is that rack attached to the roof of the cab? It does not appear to use the factory rails or aftermarket cross bars. Is it attached to the drilled factory rack mounts?

Yeah I wish I had 33's. Ha-ha The 265 I'm okay with.

 

Well, I measured the rear and there is 4 inches from the front of the tire to the wheel well. The rear is 2 1/2 inches to the mud flap. The mud flap is about 2 inches thick so I think it would look a little more uniform if I removed the mud flap but I don't need to. A lot of people put 285's on and with no mud flaps I imagine it wouldn't be noticeable as you can't tell on the trucks with bigger tires. I like the 265's for now.

 

It looks like custom cross bars attached to factory rack bolt locations.

 

Im running 265 and want 285 also but with 285 70 17 i think you only get to 33 from the current 32. It may end up a costly inch so no rush for me.

 

I am back in the hunt for a 2016 Tacoma. I am really leaning towards the Long Bed model thinking I would prefer the extra bed space. It just seems the LBs are few and far between when it comes to finding one.

 

Are those Duratracs? How do they do in deep powder? I'm considering a set after flailing largely in the snow today with my Michelin M/S 2's.

Granted I'm talking deep packed powder that is deep enough to drag against my skid plates! The M/S2's do fine on plowed roads with packed snow/ice.

 

These are actually my new MT/R's. My Duratracs that I had before were awesome in the snow though, in my opinion.

 

What kind of life did you get out of the Duratracs? And why the switch to the MT/R's? (think I've heard those are more aggressive offroad?)

 

Well I only had them about 20k miles. They still had like 65-70 percent tread on them! Yeah I went from 33's to 35's and really liked the MT/R's so that's why I switched

 

Got some new meats, 285/75r17 trail grapplers

 

Looks very tough. I dig it! I like how the tires stick out with the aggro stance to balance out the lift. That's the look I want.

Looks like you have a zero or negative offset wheels? Any rubbing? I guess if you had stock front bumper they would rub?

 

Thanks. The wheels are -10 offset 4.1" backspace. I cut the crap out of the cab mount, beat the pinch weld. I need to trim my flare and fender at the bottom and the TJM bumper, it's not a "high clearance" bumper like most vendors on this forum sell.
