TIRES! Were those the stock BFG's? They look like they don't clean out packed mud for shit.

So in retrospect, this is my fault. Tires are the new BFG KO2 ATs, but I was in four low in first gear so I was not getting the wheel speed that I needed to let the tires self clean. That said, that mud was slick as owl shit, its been raining here every day for a week straight.

Ahh, yeah that will do it. Be careful, that is a quick way to blow up a t case, I've done it... Not in a Tacoma, but any truck bouncing off rev limiter in 4lo is bad news.

How can that damage the T case? Just too much heat build up?

Haha, I know man, It was buried to the axle in the back though. Mud was super slick, sucked it right down.

Cool video. Definitely a case to buy some more aggressive tires if you plan on getting stuck more often. :)

4Lo is exactly what it is, low and slow. The internal parts aren't designed to be pushed to the max for extended periods of time in low gear.

Yeah stuck on stock tires. Been there done that this was about a month after I got her she was completely stock on stock dunlop gave into some peer pressure and got stuck in the middle of a regional park field that i shouldn't have been in... Ended up taking two tow trucks and a day of impound to get my baby back.the muddy field is the next day the track marks leading out was from them pulling it to solid ground just shows how soft and icky the ground wasIMG_1456.jpg IMG_1455.jpg IMG_1453.jpg IMG_1454.jpg IMG_1457.jpg IMG_1458.jpg IMG_1460.jpg IMG_1462.jpg IMG_1459.jpg IMG_1461.jpg IMG_1463.jpg IMG_1464.jpg IMG_1466.jpg IMG_1465.jpg

What he said. I bombed a t-case on a TJ hitting the rev limiter in 4-LO back in 2005. 4-LO is made for crawling, not revving. Not trying to bash on you - just trying to give some advise I wish someone had given me! Slow and technical driving will always beat out 'floor it man!' driving offroad.

Jesus, man. Ugh. This is why we're losing access to public parks at such a rapid pace. You know they have designated off-road trails for this stuff?

I know that now Like i said it was peer pressure there was four attractive girls in my truck and they all wanted me to do it so i gave in and did it. Now i know "don't be stupid chris" is a good way to live i only go legal now don't listen to girls in my truck telling me to do stupid stuff. A saying i live by now is "Stupid should hurt" and that did. the ranger that got there was actually really cool and he said that his son did the something similar and was going to court the next day for it. He gave me a ticket for "off road parking" that was $46 which was a lot less then I expected. I got off easy with that ticket. But the tow truck and impound fees were over $1200 so i learned my lesson with that one.

Did you at least get any attention or touchy, touchy, with the four girls in the truck?

No I appreciate the advice! I am not new to off-roading but am new to doing it in a manual transmission. After watching the video I can see that I was not getting the wheel speed that I was trying to accomplish by spinning, wasn't just trying floor it but was trying to clean the tires. Four high next time, just can't use the locker I guess.

Using 4hi and a little back and forth rocking and you'd have likely gotten out without the tow. More aggressive tires might have just dug you in deeper.
