Nah they are actually pretty decent. However they aren't meant for every application that some truck buyer need. I'd take a ridgeline over a lot of vehicles any day

This. My 70 y.o. neighbor (who sadly passed away this X-mas) used his as a DD and to take stuff back and forth to his cottage up north that was too messy for an SUV. He towed a small trailer occasionally, and the RealTime awd is a much better system than the Tacoma's for highway driving that changes frequently from dry to snow. The Ridgeline is much more of a "lifestyle" car than the Tacoma- a truck for non-truck people.

Comparing the Ridgeline (or similar architecture) to a real truck isn't logical.

Both have things they are very good at. A buyer should pick one that meets 80% of their daily needs.

I don't have a problem with a midsize truck that has a unibody instead of body on frame but I can't imagine buying a truck that is front wheel drive biased. I feel the Ridgeline is good at what it was designed to do.

Yea, but that doesn't really exist anymore does it? Being mid size requires something notably smaller commonly available. And unless the new Ranger picks up where it left off, I don't see that happening.

Everything Honda produces is awesome. From generators to jets.
My wife is a Honda fan gurl, she's had a Civic and 2 Accords.
She picked up her new ride a few days ago.

@Larry congrats to you and the wife on the new Acura. I don't think anyone is saying Honda does not make a good car, they do. Where Honda is has been lacking is in the fun and exciting segment.

Honda has massive following because they consistently produce well made vehicles. Regardless who likes new Ridgeline and why, the y will be selling them in high numbers.
Honda sales most likely eat into Toyota sales .
Regardless new Ridgeline looks not bad (way better than 2016 Tacoma) lets hope Honda did not put another car engine into it like last time.

Honda sales definitely eat into Toyotas sales and vice versa. If reliability is the number one criteria someone is looking for the three companies they will look at are Toyota, Honda, and Subaru. I'm not a fan of the Third gen lip, but I prefer its looks to any version of the ridgeline for sure.

The new pilot tops out at damn near $50 grand for a @#%!@#@ing honda! The are smoking crack. I have an 06 and Its held up but has been a maintenance queen. Engine mounts failed right when the warranty went out. Cat converter blew at 50K miles. Eats tires and suspension components way before they should wear out. Electrical issues w the center console AC. Windows that suddenly drop and explode when driving at highway speed. And who doesn't love timing belt maintenance expense. You have to be certifiably insane to buy a honda these days.

And who doesn't love an airbag that has a chance of killing you in a low speed fender bender.

I'm a longtime Toyota fan, Nothing but Toyota and Lexus in my garage. I WILL buy a Ridgeline if it looks decent, with good gas mileage, roomy enough for 4 people, POWERED seat, and rear DISC brake.

Why Not AWD? My GX460 is AWD with locking center diff, my previous 4Runner V8 was AWD. I'll take these over the Tacoma 4x4 any day.

With 300 hp 3.5L V6, higher ground clearance, AWD, 4 doors with a SEPARATE bed, it seems like a decent truck for majority of buyers. Can't wait to see it.

That's not Hondas fault. And Toyota is effected by those recalls as well. As is a few other manufactures
