I had ordered a Tacoma from Desert Sun Toyota in Alamogordo, NM a month ago. I got the call that the truck was in and went to pick it up. The saleswoman I had promised me 21k for my trade when I placed the order. Of course when I showed up, they decided that they would only give me 19k. Needless to say, but this was unacceptable for me and I walked out. So after a month wasted, I'm back to trying find a truck again. May the buyer beware!

That sucks. I was worried about this while I waited on mine but it turned out ok.

I made my deal through email. Told the salesman I wanted 22K for my Colly and he said you got it. Hey gave me the total and I wrote the check out, test drove her, and signed the papers. Easiest deal I have ever made on a new truck.

Did you get the deal in writing as far as your trade-in value? If not, it does not surprise me they dropped the trade value.

I kind of had the feeling this was going to happen. The deal details were in writing (e mail). Not a formal contract.

if it was in writing from an email they have to keep their end. Even if they are losing, it is a written agreement

Desert Sun, they are the Krummland Group like Roswell Toyota right? Yeah, they are a sketchy operation... I will never deal with them again... NEVER.

Just a thought here... If they have exactly what you want, you might see if Johnny A is still at Roswell Toyota. I know there is some affiliation between the two dealerships and Johnny is very helpful. He may be able to pull some strings for you, he helped me out a lot.

I'd contact the general manager of the dealership with your email and explain to them how they wasted your time and how you will be writing your heart felt review on Google Reviews, Yelp Reviews and any other dealership review website. They may not care, but bad PR is not something many dealerships want since they get enough from the service side of the house.

Good idea to talk to the GM. Since you had your trade for a month (?), maybe knock off a hundred or so for depreciation and see if they will bite.
