Toyota directed me to take my truck to a local body shop. The only instructions they had was the type of foam sealant. I believe it was 3M 103. One of the body guys and I did the repair. We fixed 26 places where the sealant had failed. The sealant is a dispensed from a double barrel caulking gun with a disposable zig zag type of mixing tip. The liquid expands about 4 or 5 times after it is mixed. IT SETS UP REALLY FAST! In maybe 30 or 40 seconds the tip is frozen. We put plastic wedges in and I quickly pulled them out before the foam finished expanding. The foam puts no force on the skin while it is expanding. But you definitely would not want to let it set up before pulling the wedges out unless you want a wavy hood. We got a little sloppy because the tips were becoming plugged so quickly. The foam soft but tough and is fairly easy to tear off, but the bond to the surface is incredible. I doubt if I will ever have an issue with my hood after seeing this. Have them mask off before shooting the foam in, as you will never get it all off. It is a gray foam and looked pretty awful till they used the correct touch up paint. Now you would never notice it. The old stuff was yellow. And DON'T let a wedge fall in between the skin and the stiffener.

How in the hell is that normal dude? I didn't want to take it in service for that and they would look at me crazy or think I'm just really picky

I tried uninstalling the window channel seals and put some white lithium grease spray, i haven't drove it to see if it helped or not. Have you tried tackling this issue yourself?

I just picked my new off road and checked the hood for separation while at the dealership and the hood adhesive was indeed separated. I talked to the sales manager and he noted this on delivery receipt as a we owe. The service manager is going to call me on Monday.

So I paid more attention the past two days. I do have some glue separation, but I didn't notice any hood vibrations on the highway, but the hood was going crazy in a car wash while getting dried. After the car wash I'm noticing more movement on the highway. So while it may not be an issue right now, as more of the glue separates, this is definitely going to be a problem. Hopefully there's a good fix by the time I need to worry about this.

I ordered my Tacoma Oct 5th and in the three month wait I went to my dealers a few times to check what was on the lot and every Tacoma had the separation under the hood going on and Then I drag my sales person out and showed him ,He is a motor head and saw the issue right away. Well I told him when mine show up and it did today 1/2/2016 the first thing we did was Popped the hood and you could see that there at this time was no issue and the hood felt very ridged . So I will keep a close eye on it and to me it looked like the glue was very secured !!:fingerscrossed:

Picked up our Tacoma last week. Asked them to check this issue before we got there. They looked it up and said there had been a recall for this problem a couple of months ago. We had them pop the hood and there was a long line of adhesive holding the brace and not just spots of it. All very solid. No separation.

No Problem !! mine came in Sat. the 2nd and that's the very first thing I check !! I have looked at Tacoma's in the past with the hood issue and notice how flexible the sheet metal was . Mine show almost no flex compared to others I have looked at !!!

Just to so you know I am not saying my is right from the factory, just saying after looking at other Tacoma's on the lot over the last three month's have seen the separation that is going on with them and hope it does not start doing it with mine but it does look to me that a Much Better Application has been done on my hood

Would you mind uploading the pictures of the adhesive between the hood frame and the hood skin?
    Many thanks in advance.

So has there been any actual official word from Toyota on this? I'm taking mine to the dealership on Saturday, mentally preparing for explain to some service tech what the issue is in layman's terms.
After speaking on the phone it sounded like they wanted to adjust how tight my hood is...

I purchased my truck on Saturday and told the sales manager about this. Today I received a call from service and I will bring in truck tomorrow for them to send it to the body shop for repair. They will provide a rental car for the next three days for them to repair. I hope this takes care of the problem.

My dealer is doing the same thing. Agreed to replace my hood and have it all re-painted and installed. There is something even better that I negotiated and really do not want to discuss here until they do it. Once completed, will share pics.

Well mine was reported as well (Canadian) and they said fix it, not replace. I am going to let them have at it because as I agreed with the service manager, a non matching paint can be a huge pain in the ass if it's not perfect.
