Wheel offset is a major factor. Upper control arms and alignment are also factors.
Most people who run that size just do the cab mount chop.

I went with a Mickey Thompson MTZ 33x12.50x17. Rims are 9 inches wide, so now the tire bulges out pass the rim. The M/T tire is a little shorter than a 285x70x17, but they are wider. Minor rubbing on a 3 inch lift.

I'm running 285/70/17's with ICON stage 1 and I don't rub anywhere. Did trim the fenders and swap out the stock mud flaps with rokblokz. Alignment plays a large roll into where your tires sit inside your wheel well. Are you running the stock UCA's? I was very close to my cab mount with my stock UCA's but I've got a good 1"+ now at full lock with my SPC UCA's.

Nice tires. I really wished that I'd gone with a 16 inch rim so I could have a little more sidewall. The 285x70x17 that I had on were perfectly in line with my wheels. Thus there were times that I would hit my rims while wheeling. Now with the 12.50 I have about an inch on the inside and out to protect the rim. I really like the Mickey Thompson tire.

my rims are 9 inches wide gives the truck an awesome stance as well.

that chop looks clean. can you weld as well as you cut? or are you having somebody weld them?

3" lift, extreme cab mount chop, a little flare trimming and pinch weld smashing. No rub on the drive home but it looks like I need to trim my TJM bumper to stuff tire. I think my wheels are 4.1" b.s.

Edit; these are 285/75r17 that are mentioned in the thread title and OP. 34" tires! Not 285/70r17 or 285/75r16 that people keep mentioning

What size lift you running on that? I just got some Nitto 285 terra grappler g2's and I'm hoping i don't have to do any trimming like everyone else above is talking about.

there is a difference between 285/75r17, and 285/70r17 or 285/75r16.
