Can anyone verify if the TRD OR models with out tech are pre wired for the optional heated seats?

Still waiting on mine to get here and I did not get tech package but would like to have heated seats. Wondering if I can just purchase the factory control unit and pads and add them myself.

Hmm...I had not thought about this question yet. I have no tech. If someone with tech posts a photo of the wires going to the heaters I can compare them to mine.

I know my wife's FJ was pre wired for A-trac and E-locker when I did those upgrades. Just wondering if the same is true for some of the more common features on the Tacoma.

Here is mine. It does appear there is an unused connector. But there are no wires in or out of it. Seems strange that they would install the connector but no wires. Why not just leave the connector off? Heated seats are the only thing I wanted from the tech package.20160102_115923.jpg

Yeah I wanted the dual climate and the heated seats but just the heated seats is good enough for me. I can turn on the seat heater on the passenger side and crank up the AC and the wife won't get frozen. Main reason I added heated seats to my 01 Cummins.

Can you snap a pic of your dash where the seat switches should be?

you can see heated seat buttons in top of my pic. You're going to wish you had gotten the tech package so you don't have that god awful chrome rear bumper

Needing a pic of a dash with out tech to see if the blanks are there for them or if it is built into the AC display. I don't like color matched bumpers either and will be building plate a rear bumper for the truck any way. Not to mention the fact the main reason I didn't want the tech package is I am bald and can't stand sun roofs for that reason feel like a fried egg on a Texas summer day after being in a car with one.

From an assembly standpoint it is so much easier to have 2 wire harness options, and much cheaper. Thow in a base model W/H or throw in a loaded w/h and tape up any connections not needed. There could potentially be 100's of W/H options. That would be a nightmare if they got mixed up and installed wrong.

I want that switch panel. Without BSM ECT and sonar I would have three open switch locations.

There are a few things in the Tech Package I would have liked, but unfortunately I can't do the sunroof with a seat that has no vertical adjustment. I'm 6'1" and my head is just brushing the roof if there is a sunroof, so I had to forgo the Tech Package and some of the goodies that aren't available a la carte :/ ... damn "packages"

Yes, that line chrome bumper is God aweful. Looks totally out of place in my opinion. I thought that was only on SR and SR5? So that's the factor of the color matched is the tech package?
