Will these speakers fit in my 2008 double cab

Alpine SPS-609 6x9 in the front doors



Alpine SPS-600 6.5 in the back doors

 

The 6.5" in the rear should be no problem with the standard adaptors. Should be plenty of room. The 6x9" in the front will need at least an inch spacer to get them out far enough for the window track to clear.

 

Look into getting round speakers and adapter brackets for the front doors.

oval speakers distort in lower bass frequencies at higher volumes much more and quicker than round speakers and a round cone is much more rigid than an oval one, which will cause distortion.

 

I'm gonna have to agree with Corey. I just put 6x9 Polk Momos in my front doors. My last truck had lower-end Polk dB series 6.5" components in the front doors. I have to admit that the 6.5" were much cleaner than the higher-end 6x9 Momos...to me of course.

 

There is a chance I might be wrong so if I am my bad: To my understanding if he is not getting a sub in the truck a 6x9 is a perfect option because the cone area is almost as big an 8 inch sub, which will give him a decent amount of bass to satisfy his needs. When getting a quality 6x9 a speaker an amp is a must to supply the speakers with the power they want and need. Also with a quality 6x9 that is hooked up to an amp and quality 6.5s in the back that are hooked up to an amp he should never have distortion issues as long as everything is connected right. I'm sure others will pitch in with their knowledge as well.

Round > Oval speakers. Thats my personal preference.

 

The oval speaker ideas are incorrect. I personally use 6x9's in both my truck and competition car. Considering the truck has taken 2nd place in IASCA SQ and the car has NUMEROUS wins in IASCA SQ including a 2nd place finish in the West Coast Regionals missing the top prize by a single point and an invite to World Finals.

first of all, I do not want round speakers in my car.

I think we need to make something very clear here, every article states "generally" a round speaker sounds better. There were several references as to the "highest end" manufacturers not building oval speakers for their high end lines. I will say Image Dynamics' high end line the XS series, includes two oval speakers in the line up. A 5x7 and a 6x9. If you call ID and ask thier recommendation for the best drivers they make the would without hesitation say the XS69 6x9 driver. I am on the ID competition team and use the XS69's in both of my vehicles. Under recomendations from ID, Eugene Kang (another team member) actually switched out his XS65 (6.5") mids to the XS57 (a OVAL 5x7) and immediatley saw his scores go up in competition. So, before pushing people away from the idea of using oval speakers you might want to listen to a good set first.

 

I have had numerous oval and numerous round speakers. The cone on oval speakers is more rigid, which causes distortion at low frequencies. Almost always will an oval speaker cause more distortion than a round speaker, if comparing the same brand/model. Not to mention, speakers were just simply made to be round.

The same to you guys. I stand by my word. Round speakers will produce a clearer sound, due to the fact that they are symetrical. The signal is disperced throughout the speaker evenly, creating a sound that is syncronized.

 

yes they fit i have them in my truck i just cut out the stock speaker and bolted the 6x9 onto the stock speaker basket sounds pretty good for a cheap speaker

 

Thanks for all the feed back. I just placed the order for my Alpine speakers. They should sound pretty good with the 4 x 50 watt Alpine amp I'm installing.
