    anypne know what the cause of low mpg would be? I see tons of people on here with the same setup as me getting 19-20 but I struggle to get 16 and my truck hasnt been skimped on maintenance

    Overland Purpose Built 97 going on 190K.
    if your Tire size, gear ratio, weight ratio are up to code then other issues are likely the cause like air filter, MAF sensor, O2 sensors Ect.

    Well I've got 33's, open intake, flowmaster exhaust, and the factory 4.56 gears. I just don't understand chase I've seen people running 35's with 4.56 getting 20 and I baby my truck around

    3 inch lift. bluetooth stereo. blue transparent skulls shift knobs
    check your emissions/DTC rediness. usually when you clear your computer (or disconnect your battery) it has to go through a self test phase before it allows your EVAP sytem to run. right now, after changing my battery, my system is doing the self check on the catalyst, evap system, and O2 functionality. while these are not ready, my truck gets 14 MPG. after theyre done, it jumps up to around 17.5 average.

    do you disconnect the battery a lot?

    Not too often although I do have 225k so it might be the upstream o2 sensor

    My 33's and 4.56's should get better than 15-16

    Not really, im on 265's and mine is around 18. That and driving habits make the biggest difference.

    After all that, do a compression check, see what the numbers are.

    Yeah I'll try that. Dad keeps saying he used to get around 18-19 and I saw that number once

    2011 tacoma wheels, spidertrax 1.5" lug-centric spacers, magnaflow exhaust, magnaflow cat
    a lot of people exaggerate their mpg's. if you're getting 16 combined driving with 35's you're doing good. I get about 18 combined, and up to 22 on the highway with my 31's.

    Well they're 33's, but I guess it isn't so bad maybe it'll go up once I swap in the 5 speed

    That's a bit strange I have 265s as well and I get 21mpg.

    On my 32s I average anywhere from 17 in town and 21 highway. But my work commute is 23 miles one way so that helps a bit. I'm also not the type that needs to be doing 75 on the interstate all the time. If the truck slows down to 55-60 up a hill so be it. Theres a passing lane for a reason. When I first got mine I drove it like a race car and got 14 mpg on one fill up. So yes, driving habits are huge for mpg in these trucks.

    Yeah my works 20 miles away and the funny thing is I can be in town or highway and I still get 16 no matter what

    First part is how wide the contact surface is in mm, the second part is the aspect ratio of sidewall with 1 being 1% of 265 and 100% being the same size as 265 and the last is wheel size.     It's just hard to visualize what a tire would look like when it's in metric lol but thanks that made it a lot clearer

    Have you checked your air pressure? Sometimes stupid shit like that can make a 1-2 mpg difference. Also try to gps your speed and see if your speedometer is reading right. You might be losing some mileage that way too.
