Like said, save up your money for a while so you can do it right the first time rather than just buying a cheap lift only to upgrade later. Best of the best and Rough Country don't exactly go hand in hand. Do the important maintenance stuff first.

Also take some time to study the forum and read up on various build threads and decide what route you want to go. You might be all excited now and think "YEAH I want to lift it 10 inches with a drop bracket and put 20" rims on it!" only to decide later you want to actually make a capable wheeling rig. Make a plan and start saving.

I turn 16 in 6 months and I've already got a job lined up 3000$ isn't a lot I won't have any other bills my dads probably gonna split cost on it anyway It will take me a 1/2 a year to save that and I'm starting early because I need to gain knowledge about what I'm trying to do and I don't wanna wait right until I get my license to start asking about this stuff

Hate to be a buzzkill but we've all been there.

Kid should fix the truck up, still stick around.

He'l find out that those drop bracket lifts are junk for the money when their almost as expensive as a set of coilovers.

Quick question, how many miles on the truck? Is it 3.4 or 2.7?

I like the design of the drop brackets but if it were me eating to lift my truck, I'd be the type of lesson to say screw it and drop 4500 on a solid axle swap with 37's kinda like my buddy did

Hmm has it ever had a timing belt? How bout spark plugs? How often have the front and rear diff fluids been changed? Trans and transfer case? Do any of your ball joints have play? These kind of things are the type of things to worry about before lift because if you skimp on maintenance and go straight to aesthetics you'll be sol pretty quick

Yeah just go through and make sure all the maintenance is done. Especially the t-belt and plugs. Also look at condition of coolant, brake fluid, drive belts, BRAKES, and any and all filters. Keep up with those and the truck will treat you well

I especially stress the timing belt because they're supposed to be changed every 105k miles or every 7 years and all it takes to completely destroy an engine is for that belt to break while your driving

Its a non interference engine so if it goes its not gona destroy the engine. Still wouldn't be a very good day if it goes tho...

Oh well then that's a plus lol. I'm a Honda tech so not extremely familiar with the 3.4 just going off what Hondas v6's go through but yeah like you said it'll still leave you high and dry

At the end of the day that's all personal preference on what kind of lift you want. Just stay away from body lifts, shackle lifts aren't the best, lift blocks are the middle of the road, and best is leaf springs, all relating to the rear of course

Just stay here and learn before you go and throw money at parts. I am doing that. Granted I'm a lot older than you, but learn first. I know that not what you want to do. The first thing I wanted to do was to spend, spend, spend, not learn, learn, learn. This is the best place for Taco 101. That's what you need. Taco 101
