Skip the spacer lift and go suspension.

Like said above get yourself some nice adjustable coilovers. You can even splurge and get ones with reservoirs if you wanted. Toytec, OME, Fox, ADS, King, etc. Then add on a good UCA and a leaf pack for the rear.

I've lived all over the United States while owning this truck (including Los Angeles).

The guy wants bigger tires. Maybe it's for looks, maybe it's for offroad performance. It's a probably a mix.

You obviously make your vehicle choices with an emphasis for economy. That's great for you, but this is a truck forum that is dedicated to modifying these trucks, with the vast majority being modified for offroad use.

Telling the kid that 35's will "ruin his truck" and make it a "ricer" is an early and strong contender for dumbest post of the year. 35's are not the epitome of practicality, but they're certainly not the kiss of death for a vehicle. Lift it, clearance the fender wheels, and rock on. Re-gear it if you are so inclined. It's not that complicated.

You have to be the only human being on the planet who associates a term coined for economy cars modified into street racing vehicles with a pick up truck with 35's on it.

Spend a lot of time on here and getting opinions from a lot of people before you buy anything. Trust me. And don't go cheap. Do it right the first time or you will end up spending more money. Don't try to just look cool cause all the kids at high school do it... Don't get lazy on maintence either. Learn the pros and cons of everything.

Obviously this kid isn't going to go hardcore off road or expo so there isn't a need for 35s.... We can all see he just wanted spacers and the biggest tire and wheel spacer you could find. We are suggesting other wise cause that's not exactly the right way to do things in many aspects.

Who cares what his "need" is. He wants to put 35's on his truck. He came here asking what he needs to do to make that happen.

90% of the trucks on this forum don't "need" the mods they have to get the places their owners take them. Who cares. Their money, their truck. Let them build it however they want. He's asking for technical advice, not financial advice.

Exactly, we can point him in the right direction and help him out but jumping all over him cause he's a kid and might not know a few things is not needed.

I don't think OP initially realized how much work is involved in properly installing and running 35s. I would think he'd be glad to heat a few differing opinions from a few different members and hopefully not take any one member's as hard truth. I personally would steer clear of 35s because of the PITA and added cost of regarding to maintain daily driveability. Our trucks look sweet and still drive well with 33's, plain and simple.

I agree with Caligula. I suggest using your vehicle, get to know the capabilities of it and yourself before you modify anything.

If you want to run 33's on the EOM rim, assuming you have 16" wheels, you will need to up-grade to aftermarket UCA's to clear the inside bulge of the tire and a 1" spacer to keep from rubbing the frame, at least that's what I did on my '03. If you go aftermarket wheels, I can't help you as I have OEM. If you mall crawl to pick up chicks, re-gearing isn't necessary either.

35's require serious fender well/ firewall side modifications. Check the many posts on this. Lift blocks are not a good call - period.

I have ran 33's for a number of years and not had any problems at all.

    Good luck.

Check out Marlin Crawler for the clutch.

For tires, check out www.onlinetires.com in the LA area.

    I bought General Grabber AT2's for $670.00 + tax & shipping.

    Good luck.

Only if you put a solid axle under the front. Everything else is a waste of time & money. LOL

Seriously...the only reason you need or want 35's is to go off-road. Trying to literally stuff 35's under a Tacoma without a solid axle, results in virtually NO FLEX what-so-ever. NO flex off-road? Pointless.

Not true. You can get full suspension travel by tubing the fenders and trimming. Trimming alot...

I've seen 2.5" is usually enough with around 3" of lift. That is quite a lot to chop off your truck..

Alrite buddy taco truck is meant to mods but to fully understand the complexities of the lift, ride, tires and performance of the truck. Park your truck on the drive way look at it twice sit back relax and think what you wanna do with it then go from there. Most beautiful trucks you see here some are for look, some are moderate off-roaders, few are hard core rock bangers. Decide where (which) you are fit in with the budget and time then start doing research before tearing the beauty apart
