Come on... Ocean Blvd, Myrtle Beach is missing!

The nav system is missing tons of roads, which leads to longer routes or complete inability to get to your destination.

Anybody got a fix for it?

Sounds like you need a software upgrade. Take it to the dealer

Software upgrade already for 2016? Did Ocean Blvd in Myrtle Beach just get paved or has it been there for a long time?

I find it much better than my 08 Infiniti, non touchscreen. Another thing is the cursor moves in the opposite direction of travel, I havent found a way to change it, anyone? Same on our Lexus, must be a Toyota thing!

The voice recognition is not the best. Other than that, it takes me right where I want to go.....accept my sisters house in Ill. It would NOT even take her address and it has been there since the 20`s maybe.

Ocean Blvd is very old. It's the hotel/tourist strip in Myrtle Beach, SC (major tourist destination on the east coast).

Unbelievable that it's missing from any map system.

I'm not impressed with the nav. My old Garmin works much better. I wish they would just license the tech from Garmin instead of rolling their own.

That said, I do like having integrated nav. A lot of times I just want to know the approximate arrival time. That way I can point to it and say "Stop asking when we will get there. Just look right here, what does it say?"

Also in SC. Looking at the system (Scout), one will find a lot of uncharted areas. Nuvi for detailed mapping? Expensive to upgrade per dealer.

All factory Nav sucks, its just part of life. I use mine as a reference but if its really vital I use android or the garmin.

OP just explained why I won't waste my money on in car nav systems.

For thousands of dollars [when added into a higher trim level] you get a system that is not even close to something I can buy for well under $100 and can move it between vehicles to boot.

It doesn't exist on the map. I'd down here this weekend. We were driving "off the grid"

    This. x2

And from what I can gather map upgrades aren't free. The technology (processing, rendering, etc) ages with the vehicle. When the Garmin is tired out, another costs about what a couple of map upgrades do for an in dash unit.

Not to mention repair cost when out of warranty, should it croak.

But there is good news. It's purdy.

(This is not a 'positon' on the '16 Tacoma per se. It's a position on any in dash unit in any marquee I've seen to date)

Hah. Yeah. It is a total pile. I took a trip from Huntsville AL to Charlotte, and the best route it could find was 2 hours longer than google nav and was an all over the place different route. It is absolute garbage compared to google or garmin. The voice recognition sucks too. Even after going through the calibration. Why can't entune just run google maps ffs?

"Off the grid" and "can't find" is better than the nav in the 4 door Jeep Wrangler Rubicon I had. I was looking for a brewery and it took me to a residential neighborhood way across town.

I've used my entune nav to find dirt roads that I only had coordinates for.

    Nailed it.

    I use my phone.

I tried my Limited's Nav twice and it sucked both times.

Big thing I learned about nav, it selectively shows roads based on zoom. If you're at .25 mi or higher zoom, you will see progressively coarser grained maps. Try zooming in to 700 ft or closer.

In the back woods where I drive, .25 mi is a blank map, but I often need that wider zoom to see where I want to go on the map.

    Does that help?
    B.
