Tim came by and we took a lot of measurements of his truck. Now I can move forward with the fab work. We decided to work from the back of the truck forward. We didn't want to bind the driveshaft. After we got all the measurements I cut off the transmission mounts and put the transmission and transfer case where it needed to be. Then I started designing and fabing up the new mounts. I didn't finish today. This is what I got done so far.

I got the idea from here.

    image.jpg

I couldn't find a reservoir at a junk yard so I ordered one from rock auto. I did pick up a pump from a newer chevy s10 at the junk yard for $3.00. The toyota pumps won't work for this reservoir. Bad angles and to big of a suction part of the pump.
    image.jpg

Our windshield wiper reservoirs have a 4 wire connection. Two for the pump and two for the float sensor. Im planning on bypassing the float sensor but I was going to ask @BDN for advice on how to do it. Or just attach the sensor somewhere in the engine bay to not turn on the light.

just figure out if the sensor wires need to be closed or open to turn out the light and either short them or leave them open accordingly?

I'm of course, assuming that it's simply a matter of an open or closed circuit.

I cut the sensor off and haven't had a problem. So open circuit. Although, I never saw that light come on even when I had the sensor.

Since it's a float sensor. Meaning if the float is raised like there is fluid in the reservoir then the light is off. If the reservoir is empty the the float touches down and the light comes on. So do I just cut the wires to the sensor and leave them covered and unattached?

OK thanks Brett I just saw your post.

That thing running yet? Or is the wiper fluid reservoir part of the ignition sequence?

Ha! The reservoir is not on the list until after it's running. Im planning on finishing the the transmission mounts today after Barb wakes up. I can't cut steel just yet. Or else..... you get it :D

Did you know that the 2wd Tacomas came with a fender mounted washer reservoir that wires up and plumbs in using the same connectors and everything?

Maybe I'm not understanding the location your talking about or type of reservoir. "Fender mounted" mine was between the fender and wheel well. I wanted to remove it and put one where the ABS goes. So it's out of view with my bumper. This is just one of those projects I wanted to get done. Nothing to do with the 4x4 or 3.4 stuff.

I was saying there is a washer reservoir that was designed for Tacomas that goes where that Chevy one goes. It was offered on 2wd Tacomas but fits 4wd.
