So this is my first tacoma I love it. One of the very few things that bothers me is that when I close the doors 90% of the time I have to open and re slam the door shut. On any of my old trucks or cars when I shut the door it's all good. My wife comments all the time that the truck is the hardest doors to close. It seems to never fully close the first time. What is causing this or is this just the way the taco as are so you don't "slam" the doors?
    Thanks, david

Probably because the seal in the cab is pretty good? I've had Volkswagens that do the same. Think of it as a good thing.

For me, I went from a full size extended cab, 20 year old truck to a brand new DCSB. I figure the older truck had much heavier doors and the cab was not nearly as air tight. The new truck has much lighter doors and the seals are new so the air pressure makes the doors harder to get latched without closing them firmly. Something to get used to.

How is your door fit? Is it flush with the rear door or slightly stepped in?

Haha, I don't really have a problem with this but it drives my 110 lb wife nuts! She never gets it fully closed on the first try.

Maybe that's it. Just used to heavier doors maybe? Not really trying to nitpick (maybe I am) but I'll just adjust. End rant... Haha

Just make sure when you and your wife get in or out that she closes her door first before you do so you get the brunt of the sealed cab. Only because girls are weak sauce and guys are beasts lol. :headbang:

Reason I ask is if the door is stepped in,that means the door striker is set to far in. It can make the door difficult to shut.

It's definitely caused the tight seal in the cab. Also, I've noticed that I can tell the difference in the heat/AC fan speed when windows are closed tight. Sounds crazy but cracking the window slightly seems to free up the fan speed as it lets pressure out of the cab...

 +1 on that. Also you can depress the recirculate button.

Simply roll a window partially down you can prove or disprove the air pressure idea easily.

I doubt it is though, because there are vents in the back of the cab to relieve the pressure. Unless the vents aren't working properly.

If it's not air pressure, it's likely an adjustment of the door latching mechanism. Warranty item.

Well... I lower the windows ( 2 front ) and closed the drivers door and it closed with ease. Cabin pressure I'm assuming. I Can live with it

    Agreed.

However, the cab vent should release the pressure to help prevent that. I'd be checking that for function.

There are some threads around here with folks complaining of road noise from behind them, and it was the cabin vent. They blocked it and noise dropped. So I'm curious if yours might not be functioning.

Worth a look if you are a tinkerer.

The doors on my 2014 Regular cab close much easier with a window down or the opposite door open. The are no vents in the back panel.

Mine too, I crack the drivers window, door shuts with ease, windows up, takes a little more of a "slam" - I'm good with it also.

As for the function of the vent, does that mean that people that blocked theirs to stop the noise "made them non functional" on purpose? So they are willing to have it be a hard close to take care of the noise? Also, where it located? Behind the rear plastics on the double cab? How do you know if they work or not? Thanks for answering any ?s and as for getting to them that is the least of my worries. Thanks again for the help
