Thanks! I could see how that area could deteriorate fast. A lot of trips, just my g/f and I go explore and always side with caution when it comes to sketchy situations. Better safe then sorry.

    Yup, BLM/Forest behind the airport.

The holidays finally died down enough to give me uninterrupted days in my garage installing Christmas gifts.
First order of business was replacing my water pump for my shower.
    https://youtu.be/6wnvuyPCYB4
    uploadfromtaptalk1451891491025.jpg
old pump was free, but has left me halfway through a shower nekkid in the middle of camp more than once because it couldn't self prime. Now I can pull 9' of dry line and it cycles to keep pressure up rather than burning up when I shut off the nozzle.

Next up was my rtt project ive been dreaming of.
Plan was to wire electric heat into the bed, and provide a source of power to charge phones etc.
Power will come from a removable 12v plug I have hard wired into the bed. Goes to relay / fuse box which finally provides a very small switch box that will go inside the tent once opened. Couldn't make anything small enough to permanently mount inside tent while folded.
Used my 3d printer to print out my fuse holders. I've got the file if anyone wants it and I've got plenty of these little things left over if anyone's got a use for them.
    uploadfromtaptalk1451891362301.jpg
    Test run came out great

when in doubt make a dozen
    uploadfromtaptalk1451891946572.jpg
    uploadfromtaptalk1451891958174.jpg
3d printing is kinda the coolest shit I've ever seen in my whole life.
    uploadfromtaptalk1451892009812.jpg
This mess worked great for 8 hours straight, no overheating after I cut out all the bullshit Chinese wiring harness the seat heaters came with. I realize why car fires are so common after cutting their harness apart to do it properly.
    uploadfromtaptalk1451892166326.jpg
Pissed my little timer relay is broken... Previously it was the brain for a little toy I made that would honk the horn when you hit the brakes on any car you plugged it into. I was planning on re programming it and using it to cycle the seat heaters on and off to keep the amp draw down overnight (stock battery setup problems)
    uploadfromtaptalk1451892306624.jpg
Final -ish product. Just gotta put on the wire loom and enclose the boxes.
    uploadfromtaptalk1451892352649.jpg
Main fuse terminal with LED to see when power is on.
    uploadfromtaptalk1451892388593.jpg
User control box. Once enclosed it'll only have the usb chargers and seat heater switch exposed.
    uploadfromtaptalk1451892526389.jpg

Four seat heaters. Mediocre Chinese parts. Will likely replace with an actual 12v heating blanket. The wiring harness I made will handle 20 Amps before starting to heat up.

Really hope I can drop this whole post into my build thread I don't want to re type this.

Why not buy a heated blanket from Amazon? 12v, built in timer, queen sized...

Christmas gift. Couldn't argue with it! Haha like I said I'll probably replace it with one.

My question with it is where to put it?
These ones are meant to be stuck onto a surface. Do I stick em to the anti condensation may between the mattress? Or flat to the board below? I'd imagine it would keep the board warm and keep me warmer by stopping one area of heat loss. Where did you put your heating pad?

With the heated blankie, you just put it on top of the mattress then a fitted sheet over that. With your heated seats, I'd put them on something not directly on the pad.

Any recommendations for a heated blanket and some type of power bank or generator type thing for camping?

I'd pick up a deep cycle battery and keep that in the back for a power source.

ARE CX. Prinsu toprac. No cap reinforcement. Lots of miles on mine an no issues here. The Prinsu distributes the weight nicely.

Edit: @HomerTaco wheels his harder than most with RTT and I don't think he has reinforced cap either. He may weigh in as well.

I have had my RTT with 2-3 people in it with my LEER 100R and Snugtop XV. Both have handled it fine in a variety of conditions. I wouldn't hesitate to do it on yours. You could always built an interior skeleton to support the mounting points of the rack. Check out this thread (http://www.expeditionportal.com/for...-on-Gen-2-Tacoma-Double-Cab-Fitting-questions)

I'm getting kinda close to pulling the trigger on a RTT. Any word on when these new CVT's are coming out??? I'd at least like to compare.

The pics of camping in the cold weather are awesome. Keep 'em coming. I'm just too much of a cold weather pussy to go camp out there myself.

My CVT cover was a bit worse for wear after this season. The thread came undone on one part where the the cover wraps around the ladder. That started flapping in the wind and wore a hole where cover meets strap. My fault, I know.
The pad inside the tent did not hold up well and wasn't that comfortable to begin with. I might try to cut a memory foam pad next year.

Other than that, it's been a fun summer with the tent and my daughter loves it.
