cb radio mounting location

hello, I have an 08 access cab and I am in the market for a new cb, most likely another cobra, and I was looking for some pictures of where you guys mounted your cb's. I appreciate any pictures, thanks.

This is how I'm mounting mine. Antenna will be mounted on a UWS box.

 

thats pretty cool, can you still run a PA with that model?

 

No PA with that and I haven't heard of 1 yet that puts out 4 watts.

 

sorry for the ignorance... but what would the purpose of the cb radio be?

 

Communications.

While riding trails with a group or even solo and you have problems. Back in the woods cell phones don't always work. On the freeway it can be fun to listen to the truckers. Get Smokey reports, learn of traffic tie-ups and ways around them. Ask for directions, places to eat or get gas.

They have a lot of uses.

 

Here are some shots of my install. I put the radio in the cubby just to right of steering wheel - I removed the cubby itself first. To some, it might look weird in these shots, but sitting in the driver's seat the alignment is perfect and completely out of the way of everything. The big hole exposed after I removed the cubby was perfect for all the cabling to run right up to the radio and the antenna coax rear plug, which sticks out, fits nicely in that hole.

Yes.

9 feet isn't very long though. What are you wanting to use this for?

Most antennas use an 18ft coax. 18ft is a half wave in length and makes for easier tuning. 9 ft is 1/4 wave but won't go very far if used to hook up the radio to the antenna.

I used 1 of these to hook my radio to an amp. Then ran the 18ft from the amp to the antenna.

I like your installation. For those of us with the manual transmission, that cubby hole to the right of the steering wheel is the parking brake. So I'm still thinking about where I can mount my radio.

 

im thinking about making a bracket of sorts that would attach to the cb and hang off to the driver side from the shifter hole, more or less a temporary location for the radio so no permanent attachment. (if that made any sense)

these guys have every concievable mount system when the page comes up go to the third search box (one with the scroll arrow) and clik the scroll arrow to bring up list-scroll down to reveal "mounting systems"

 

I didn't enter a radio and got no hits on that page. Did I need to enter a radio?
