You can also mess up your MAF by submersing your vehicle in a pool of dog shit but who submerses there vehicle in a pool of dog shit?? Anyone with any sense at all would follow the instructions for reoiling their filter when servicing it.

how about the fact they are over oiled from k&n brand new? before I knew better I had two many moons ago and they fucking dripped oil when set upright.

 

You stalking me or something?!? I drove into a pool of hot dog shit the other day (didn't tell anyone) but because I had the stock filter, everything was fine. A hose, febreeze, nicest Fram I could buy and I was on my way. I do have dogs sniffing my tow hitch when coming to a stop in residential areas, but that will probably fade with time.

 

K&N filters screw up MAF often. There is a GM tech here who posts regularly and has attested to this as a fact

Thank you smugly. But one last comment. If GM is so worried about oil particles gumming up MAFs why did they design some of their engines with the crankcase ventilation outlet upstream from the MAF on the intake?! I would think you are pretty likely to get atomized oil coming out of the crank case. And Toyota TRD uses the same material and oil on their air filter as K&N and Toyota approves the TRD filter for their vehicle and intakes. This is more about car manufacturers unhappy about not making profits off replacement parts IMHO. And independent research has proven that the number one contaminate causing MAF issues is silicates. The GM guy is a car tech. He replaces parts. How many of the MAFs that he is saying were defective because of a K&N filter did he actually have analyzed? Do we need to open a thread about how many people have taken their vehicles to a car tech and had the problem misdiagnosed, repeatedly. I read his post. The answer is none!

 

You have an entirely different engine than we do...

 

They are V6's. A V6 will always sound like a V6, and as soon as we come to terms with that, the better we will be.

I came from a 5.8L Bronco with headers, custom Y pipe, 1 highflow cat, and custom tail... I will never even try to make my V6 sound anywhere near that.

however, a little more growl/tone over stock is always welcomed.

cuz they detuned wut maggy and eaton had on the original drawing board....... and they did a number allowing K&N to fuck up their "trd" intake didnt they? if "TRD" just stepped aside and let some real engineers evaluate manufacturers products, I bet things would be much better.
