hello everyone, I'm lurking around here and trying to learn some more about these Toyota trucks. Never had a truck before and I'm starting to look for one. I'm currently driving a 2013 Passat tdi and I'm very dissapointed with it so far. It is my fifth vw and I'm fed up of all the crap happening. Since I bring my sport bike to the track every now and again I always need to rent a trailer to tow my rocket and living in a fairly big city with no reserve parking, I'm limited in what I can store at home in my condo and the garage I'm renting for my bike has no extra room to store a trailer.

To make a short story long, I have decided that maybe a pickup would be a smart vehicle to get. I love the new Tacoma but it is a little too pricy for my liking as far as online pricing goes. I am awaiting the settlement from vw concerning the tdi nightmare and I'm really thinking about dumping that car soon after. I'll be looking around here to see what this truck has to offer. Glad to meet you guys. Cheers.

Thank you. I will for sure look into them. Maybe I can find a barely driven second gen one at a good price since the new one just came out.

If you plan on putting your bike in the bed, look into possibly reinforcing the tailgate. Some have had issues with the tailgate with dirt bikes and such.

As closest as possible to 30,000$ Canadian that is. I might be stretching it to 35 but it will depend on more then one factor.

I personally would recommend waiting a few more years until the new 2016 Tacoma's drop in price and buy one used. But if you really want to do it asap, I would get the newest 2nd gen Tacoma possible. Either way you won't be disappointed.

Patience I have. Don't want to wait a few years tho ;) simply have to wait for vw to give me something back and then I'll sort everything out. Looking forward to not get stuck in snow banks in the city. Definetely want a 4by4.

When I saw the 2016, I fell in love but the price tho.... Not so much :(

What do you mean? Like as far as ideas go? I'd say look at stuff on here. Not many magazines for what we have plus these are put to the test in real life situations. Just a tip

Dont settle. Get what you want to. I wanted green so my second was white. Since green is no longer available I went white and was happy

Are there any flaws that really bug you guys about the second gens? Like rattles, or excessive noise in cabin or maybe some things that need upgrading right away?

I don't know about Canada, but here in the US resale values are wicked high. Best bet is to buy a 2014-2015 with very few miles on it <10,000. It will cost very close to what one with 50,000 plus on it will cost!
