Traction Boards help

I want a pair of good quality traction boards but I want them to be about 5 feet long so I can use them as a light weight ramp to the bed. Any sources or advice is welcome. I want them for snow exclusively.

 

If you need to have them be 5' long for traction I think you your only option may be sand ladders. If you want to drive something heavy into the bed you may be further limited to bridging leaders. I don't think either of them really designed to work well for snow traction and recovery. If you can live with 45" to 48" there are lots of traction options from Maxtrax, Smittybilt, and others.

 

I have two pairs of TRED 1100 boards that work well in the snow. They're neither 5' long nor are they loading ramps. There happens to be a group buy right now.

2 x 12 lumber with smaller lag bolts (for traction) are the answer.

 

Ended up buying a pair of these. I figured for the amount I might need them, these will work and the price ain't to bad either

I plow snow and every once in a while i will lift the blade just a little too early and end up high centering myself in the bank I am trying to build. The plow then becomes an anchor and shoveling doesn't help to much unless you shovel all the snow behind the blade. I know all the tricks but sometimes it's just fubar. I only do my drive and my folks these days. Last year we had some BIG banks, I think they will work very well tho.

This are mine. First and only (as far as I'm aware) in the U. S.

 

I think they probably are the best but I am just to cheap to pay their price right now. I was going to buy the Smittybilts until I started reading the reviews. Ended up ordering Lite-Way Recovery Mats instead of Maxtrax for about 1/3 the cost. Might only last through one, or part of one, recovery though.

 

Yea. I'd just rather buy ones that will last. I have seen tires slip and ruin the traction so they're useless

 

If you can find some, fiberglass (FRP) mesh grating is extremely strong and flexible and provides good grip and isn't too expensive.

Don't think I would try to mix the two.

 

The ramp aspect I need is for about 50lbs for a wheelchair is all. Awkward weight. I am just going to extend the boards I bought thnx.

Have you used these yet? If so, how did they fare?

 

Not yet. Ive tried to get stuck but no dice with the locker and ATRAC The weather is nice now so will just have to go out to the sand (lots of it around here) and stick the thing just to try the boards. IT Will really hack me off if they shatter like I read the Smittybilts have a tendency to do. Guess it will be better to know that now than later on the back side of a mountain somewhere at o-dark thirty.

 

I know this is a way old post, but how did these liteway tracks work out for you? I too, am poor.

 

Only used them once and they didn't break but had some minor deformatiin. Only one use is a poor sample size, sorry.
