Well that is just peachy ... WTH?

Obviously they never showed this article to the Toyota engineer that I met.

Also this will be great 30 mpg ... wow! ... but
    THAT'S A LOAD OF CRAP

    :poking:

My TRD OR spec sheet says 18 mpg city ... 23 mpg highway ... 20 mpg combined

I get 16.5 mpg mostly highway; now at 8300 miles ... calculated by computer and verified manually by my logs, so most of what they say is CRAP.

Stupid article ... 5.0 liter diesel by cummins .. but picture is of a 5.7 liter gas engine ....

Oz, I like the way you think. I get amused when people go off about the Prius or some other hybrid, and I have to wonder if any of them have ever driven a Prius. We've owned 2 Camry hybrids in the past 9 years and have loved them. About 9 or 10 years ago Toyota built a concept truck called the Abat. It was a unibody truck, based on the Prius floor pan and used the Camry hybrid drivetrain. It was as ugly as sin, but the whole idea just intrigued me.

I know a guy who made his jeep into a diesel and it's sick. So to really answer your question, yes but you're going to need to do it all yourself!

Yeah, I'm a pretty avid auto racing fan, so I've read about this car, as well as the hybrid racer from Porsche.

Is that a genuine roll/light bar in the back of that truck I see? Whatever happened to those in trucks here in the states, I had one on my 1976 F 250, my 1988 Mazda B2600, my 1990 PreRunner 4X4 and that was then end of the road for me, they were so popular back in the day.

I had zero experience with diesels, and test drove the Ram EcoDiesel. LOVED it, even if I didn't need it. But...U.S. diesels scare me with the emissions equipment these days; just go over to that forum and check out the issues. And it's weird... I mean, it doesn't seem to be a quality issue, but more of a too-much-crap-on-the-emissions-systems issue. I suspect most diesels coming out are going to have emissions problems, but I'm not all that knowledgeable about it.

VM motori who supplies the 3.0L diesel motor for RAM is shit. Search mopar ecodiesel on YouTube for a good laugh.

Once Toyota starts losing sales to the new Ranger, Colorado, new Frontier, Ridgeline, and possibly new RAM midsize , they will be forced to take drastic measures like introducing a diesel.

And it wouldn't hurt to have more torque than a Sienna either.

As a hybrid owner (2015 Camry) I would love a hybrid truck option. I lived in Germany long enough to have a great understanding of diesel. I'd take a hybrid truck first.

Toyota keeps saying they have no plans when asked....but, eventually if there is a market, I feel they would. Probably just as quickly as they took to put one in the Tundra.....and waiting .....

I can't see a hybrid truck working well....unless all you do is commute with it. Any kind of a towing load and you might be better off with a diesel if real expensive economy is what you are after.

So, the hybrid hilander works quite well... Why would a hybrid Tacoma not be able to perform to standard?
